Royal Palms Resort and Spa

Started my Grand Canyon adventure here. We did a girls trip and after flying into Phoenix we stayed at Royal Palms. The appeal of this place is that it is in an old Spanish Hacienda built by a shipping and railway mogul named D Cook. The hotel had charming little alcoves some with fireplaces. The winding paths take you to enclosed courtyards surrounded by the rooms or casitas that have beautiful well tended gardens. So charming and make for a nice meandering walk in the morning as that will be the coolest part of day. We ate breakfast at the T.Cook restaurant. My thing is healthy whole food plant based so I had the steel cut oats first morning and over night oats next morning. Excellent. We chose to eat in town for lunch and dinners. We took the historical tour which I highly recommend from Barbara. We stayed in section built in the 80’s. Very comfortable. The fridge is stocked with with purchases so you can’t use it. The restaurant has complimentary coffee in lobby and very close by if you don’t want to use the room coffee maker. Very family friendly with pool area. Cabana server will make a veggie burger there. There is a mixology class you can take. Happy hour from 4 to 6.

The resort was beautifully maintained and the views from all around the complex were perfect. Easy access to the Camelback hiking trails and Scottsdale in general.

1. The room had a big bug, which was quite at night, but started to jump on the wall, flied over my bed, and made lots of noises in the morning. This scared me and woke me up at 5am. 2. the quality of breakfast is not consistent. I ordered the same fruit plate on May 30 and June 6, but half of the fruit on June 6 was not fresh. 3. The customer service of front desk is a big concern. I called back to the hotel around 9pm on Jun 9 about the room charge for my stay on June 5. The lady who picked up the call didn't even let me explain the whole scenario of my problem(she only let me finish talking first half of my problem), but kept saying she's doing everything correctly. I tried to interrupt her and explain more details, but she just kept talking and didn't even allow me to talk. Because she didn't listen to me and kept talking about the stuff that I was not asking for, I requested to talk to her manager or another person, but she said she's the manager of Royal Palms Resort. I asked what her name is, and she refused to tell me her name. This is my worst experience with Hyatt ever, and compared to the room charge problem itself, the rude customer service made me very disappointed.

The check in person was not friendly, the room service folks were great and food and location were good but I did have to haul my own bags from my room which didn’t seem right paying $900 a night. I expected more luxury service. The photo of the room I chose had a firepit on the patio and grass. Mine had neither of those

The Royal Palms is a hidden gem. It is perfect for a couples trip or weekend away. You will see few to no families/groups. Service is excellent and the rooms are very private in most of the resort. The food, while pricey, is excellent. The pool area is small and intimate. This was our 4th trip and it is still a 5/5.

This property oozes old money. We were there when the property had plants that were flowering. We visited just before the heat dome hit, very pleasant evenings. Bar was fun, try the apple martini and simple ice tea. Restaurant is OK, but go drive somewhere for food, but is a pleasant place to eat, you can see the bar from the restaurant depending on where you sit. The property is well maintained, and we walked around the property land a lot looking at the flowers, bees, humming birds, lizards and other animals. Check in was pleasant and so was check out; Our room had a patio, but it was too hot to be sitting outside, so weather permitting, it would be nice option. We used the patio door to exit the room to roam around the property. Valet parking is what it is... they have no self park option which could be a bit of a hassle. Overall we liked it a lot. We will return.

This place is not cheap but it was a really great resort. Very authentic Southwest feel to the whole complex. Great service and great food and drink!

Love this spot for a relaxing vacation. Great smaller boutique feeling hotel with great rooms, amenities and services.

I stayed at the Royal Palms for two nights and had such a relaxing time that I extended a night. The grounds and rooms are beautiful, pool has very attentive attendants, and breakfast in the onsite restaurant was delicious - no reason really to leave the resort. It was a lovely getaway.
