In need of renovation. Had to change rooms because it smelled funny. The other one wasn't any better.
The air conditioning didn't work properly. All the furniture was outdated. The bed cover was changed but had stains. The bathroom was a disaster. The bathtub had stains. The fan above the bathtub had mold and dust. When taking a bath it always took several minutes to get the temperature right. Couldn't use the iron in the room. Very calcified. The curtains in the room had stains. The wood paneling in the room was worn. The balcony door couldn't be closed properly. The noise from the very busy street could be heard well. As a result, I slept badly. There were 2 air conditioning units on my balcony. I could only use a small part of it. The room was very thinly soundproof. The panels in the hallway were broken.
To sum up my experience in Lamai. A disaster. I left 3 days before and moved to a much better hotel. Then my vacation really started.
A message to management. CLOSE THE HOTEL!!! That's not how you make vacationers happy.

I booked a deal though Agoda at 500 baht per night and was not expecting too much, however, I was pleasantly surprised. Whilst the Lammai Hotel has undoubtably seen better days it still has a lot to offer. Strategically located, within easy walking distance of all the main attractions, shopping, bars, restaurants, night cubs etc 500 baht per night represented tremendous value. My room had all the requirements for a comfortable stay. Fitted out in typical old Thai style the room was spacious, airy and clean. Everything worked as it should. The shower is in the bath, not particular to my liking but quite common in older hotels. Plenty of cupboard space, room safe, and an area to set up a laptop. WIFI worked ok as did the AC. Tea and coffee making amenities provided. The balcony was a good size to sit and watch the world go by. Only real issue in the room was the bed which was not really comfortable, far too firm for my liking. Hotel staff were friendly and there is a little bar attached to the front of the hotel where you can enjoy a drink. Overall a pleasant stay and for those on a budget a good option, especially considering the location.

Receptionist couldn’t speak English!, very noisy late at night with a street bar operating all night with no respect for guests in the next door hotel!
