The Pitlochry Hydro Hotel

A lovely hotel in a quiet setting. Bar service was a bit slow but available most times during the day. Food service was ok. Breakfast was good… wide variety… although fruit could have been fresher, ( apple was brown). Dinner at night was ok. Entertainer was good, enjoyed his music and cheerfulness. Difficult to get a taxi on the day we left and was pouring with rain. Staff were really helpful and took us to the train for which we were really grateful! I suggest booking a cab the day before. Our room was comfortable and a good size. However the bathroom window curtains need attention. A shower curtain pinned up with press studs wasn’t appropriate for security and privacy! We would stay again.

A lot of potential for this place, but will take time and money

What a lovely couple of nights we enjoyed here, early May. Booking on thir website was easy. It was a long drive to Pitochry, so we'd booked an Exec room to get the mst from our short stay there. That was a good decision - our 1st floor south-west facing corner room was very spacious, with comfy chairs and table in the bay window. Comfortabke king bed, lovely bedding, clean, quiet, nice bathroom and tea-making facilities. Just right. We parked in front of the hotel, in their car park. The reception staff were welcoming, and on asking, gave us day trips suggestions and local area info. Friendly and helpful. Thanks to you all. Breakfast was self-service with egg options cooked to order. We loved the Hydro's breakfasts: a good selection of Scottish cooked + continental pastries, fruits, yoghurt etc. Yum! We dined from the bar menu in the evenings - delicious pizzas. Everything was well-presented, tasted great and was good value too. A couple of swims in the hotel's indoor pool blew a few mental cobwebs away. The pool is large enough and sensibly-shaped to swim lengths, and we rewarded ourselves with 20min sessions in the jacuzzi. Nice changing room and showers. Clean. The hotel is located up the hill from Pitlochry's main shopping/eatery street, a 10min stroll away. (Take the stepped path from the end of the car park.) There's a verandah and comfy seating outside the hotel. A nice spot for a cuppa or drink from the bar. Throughout our all-too-brief stay, the staff here were friendly, helpful and welcoming. Huge thanks to all the team here, and should we visit this fantastic area of Scotland again - we'll be back!

The property could do with revamp pure quality lighting in the rooms. Well left was outdated. Staff went walking around with uniforms on every day clothing slate organization that menu wasn’t very great. Specially, the fish cake, coffee spelt over a carton, very uneven floor in the rooms and in the corridors I think the place needs a serious update in interior

Lovely stay at Pitlochry Hydro. Receptionist on arrival, was not very welcoming but did his job. Other staff encountered were friendly and helpful. Breakfast hot and varied. Did not use leisure facilities. Room and facilities were the standard we expected for 3 star large hotel. Enjoyed our stay for exploring Pitlochry and surrounding area.

The location in Pitlochry is great and the hotel is good overall though it needs to upgrade some aspects. Family room was set out ideally with a double bed and two singles. Bathroom had all that was needed. Breakfast was adequate but bar meals reasonable priced. Room was cosy. Pool and sauna were good. Check-in was a bit slow though. Service a bit patchy - I wanted a coffee from the bar one day and there was no-one there. Spoke to a managerial-looking guy on the reception who said he'd do it. Waited ten minutes before giving up. Bedroom windows are single-glazed and there was a lot of mould around the frames. Showers and changing rooms are not really big enough, esp at peak times. Also, not enough vegetarian/ vegan choices for breakfast. Overall though we enjoyed our stay.

Hotel is quite dated and tired in places. No instructions on how to have the bathroom towel rail on, had to ask reception. Breakfast was basic, would have liked a better selection of hit and cold food, cooked food a bit dry, sadly nothing to write home about

Its was amazing stayed I been here last year in the same time and next year I also want to back again We come in Pitlochry for couple days I have a large room with views Swimming pool and jacuzzi was fabulous All staff was so friendly specially Natalia she remembered me and my ordering food from last year so funny Breakfast so good better than last year a lot of choices fruits and juices selection of cereals Entertainment was fantastic This place not to far from town with big garden and nice people See you again
