AC Hotel Pittsburgh Downtown

I like the style. New and modern. Parking is easy to be found (opposite the hotel) Except for the unknown regular noise at night (like from some machine??), everything’s okay.

The room was very clean and walking distance to the convention center. The room was clean for the most part. We would stay here again

Titanium Elite Lifetime here. Checked in for a 1 night stay while moving our daughter out of college. When we check in we were asked if we wanted points or $20 towards food and beverage. Since they don’t provide free breakfast we thought we would apply the $20 to the breakfast. The hotel itself is very nice and so was the room. We had a view of the river. You could hear the road a bit, but they did have a white noise machine in the room which helps. The location is near an area with plenty of restaurant options within a short walk. Here is where the 3 star review comes in. The breakfast was a buffet style and there was very little food available. A couple of croissants , two pieces of bread, yogurt, some cheese and meats. They did have two hot options which were ok. When I checked out I wanted to make sure they had deducted my $20 from breakfast which for 2 was $31. They had not. The person at the front told me it was not $20 off, but $10. I told her when we check in it was $20 and she dismissed my claim and told me $10. She then gave me a slip and told me to hand it to the waiter to get the discount. Well of course they never applied the discount. This could have been a nice option for us in Pitt, but super rude at the front desk.

Great property

I booked this hotel for a relative who was forced to layover by a flight delay. The booking included breakfast. My relative was nevertheless charged $20 for breakfast. Perhaps my relative failed to alert the hotel that breakfast was already paid for but I am still disappointed the hotel did not catch the error.

This is a relatively new Marriott in downtown Pittsburgh. The location is great and the aesthetic is as to be expected for an AC. Convenient to most necessities by foot including coffee, dining, and various waterfront and general amenities. Parking is available across the street, however it was unclear at check in whether there was underground parking so that’s what I aimed for first. As such, there was a bit of a traffic jam at the hotel entrance and no staff there to manage it. Cars behind cars blocking in the cars that got there first. A reception for the hotel on the ground floor had a desk but no human. Took a trip to the lobby and waited untended for a good 15 minutes while one of the front desk staff was arranging furniture for what looked like a next day meeting (it was 9 pm). Despite repeatedly looking over while I waited, he actually didn’t come over until a fourth person got in line. He checked me in and let me know that parking was across the street. It was pretty dark and even with decent (not great) parking lot lighting - I will be honest - I was not comfortable alone. I got into the hotel and headed for my room. I always take a cursory look first. My first room was facing a brick building in an alley. There was a dirty rag of some sort on one nightstand table and spilled coffee on the other. I called to mention it and got a relatively curt response that if I wanted a new room I needed to come up. I was then waited on by a different desk attendant and she changed my room. My second room had a toilet that runs. I did get it to stop but it surprised me to be changing rooms due to hygiene and tinkering with toilets. I heard train noise at one point - but only once and it didn’t ultimately interfere with my sleep. Overall the rating is reflective of the experience as much as the environment. I expect quiet. I never expect hygiene issues. The hotel is generally very nice. They appeared to be skeleton crew and I’m sure that played a role in all of the above. I might stay there on a Saturday night if I really wanted to be in this location but I don’t see myself volunteering to stay on a business night again. Definitely don’t see myself hosting a meeting there for overnight guests unless or until I have a better outcome. Not sure yet about this one.

This was our first AC property. Looked like a nice option near the convention center but the service was awful and amenities poor. No valet parking and no place to unload. Ice and water on our floor empty entire weekend. Bathroom in 7th floor lobby clogged. It looks like AC brought European service which you never want. Front desk was surly and unavailable, bartender was slow and made poor drinks despite few patrons. At breakfast, they ran out of croissants, coffee, creamer, and bread and there was only one poor staff person trying to clean and refill and do everything. Basically, a Courtyard with nicer finishes but worse service and amenities.

Excellent hotel and staff. Lovely accommodations. Very clean, sleek and modern. Very convenient to downtown ***** district. Easy walk to David L. Lawrence Convention Center. Convenient parking across street and inexpensive. Continental breakfast for $10.00 and very reasonable hot breakfast items as well. I’ll stay here again!!
