TownePlace Suites by Marriott Scranton Wilkes-Barre

The hotel was filthy, outside garbage cans were overflowing, public areas had dirt and debris on carpet, counters, and furniture. The room was not cleaned before we checked-in, more on this in a minute. When the group I was with checked in at 7PM, we were told there were no rooms available on a reservation made 10 months prior. We waited 45 minutes for the front desk clerk to get in contact with the manager that was nowhere to be found and all she did was hurry and have some people change the sheets and bring towels to the unclean room. Poorly managed and filthy hotel. I did not make the reservation and I will never return to this hotel again. I have nothing nice to say about this place, not even the free breakfast was worth it.

This hotel should not be open for business under the Marriott brand, and probably any brand. There is a serious management deficit here, and I will not stay here again. I was here for 5 days on business travel, the room was booked thru my corporate travel agency, and I am a longtime Marriott Rewards member. I was placed in a handicapped accessible room, but I am not handicapped, the hotel was far from full, and I booked 3 weeks in advance. My room was not serviced at all during my stay. I went to the lobby on the third day to ask for a refill of coffee packs and hand towels, and notified the persone at the desk that the reason I was needing backfill was because my room hadn't been serviced yet during my stay. The person appeared frustrated at my request and said, "well, I don't know where I will get more coffee, I guess I'll have to take it from another room!" I thought, "What??! It's your job to know where to obtain supplies and amenities for your customers." The pool is posted as open at 7am (too late and not convenient for most business travelers to use for morning exercise), three mornings in a row when I arrived at 7am at the pool, it was either being cleaned, the door was still locked, or dirty towels from the previous day were still piled on the furniture and floor. There were no clean towels available at the pool. Breakfast area was cramped and dirty, cereal dispensers were clogged, you had to scoop cereal out of the top with a plastic cup. Only one hot food item served a day, usually eggs. Someone in the hotel was using ********* for most evenings, families appeared to be "camping out" at the pool during the day complete with bags of groceries, alcoholic beverages, kids' toys. It actually appeared that the hotel was being used as some sort of hostel for people with housing insecurity. Again, maybe this facility is appropriate and suited for that purpose, but if so it should not be advertised as a Marriott brand hotel suitable for business travelers or families on holiday.

This hotel was very clean and even has a small kitchen in your room. The bed and pillows were comfortable. The Hot tub was amazing but the indoor pool was too cold. Location is quiet and has restaurants very close. The shops at Montage are horrible and half empty. The breakfast attendant was miserable each morning and obviously hates her job but the rest of the staff were great.

Never again. Worst hotel I’ve ever been in. Dirty, carpet stained, toilet not working, furniture all chipped and scratched. Couldn’t even get a bill printed since “the printer is still out of ink”. Dozens of cigarette butts on ground near entrance. I’ve stayed here several times in the past and it USED to be good. No more. This has really gone downhill. It’s an embarrassment to Marriott to have this hotel as part of their system. The photos I’ve included don’t do justice to how bad this place is.

TownePlace was the perfect and honestly the best option for our large group. Ashley B the sales manager was unbelievably accommodating in every way, from organizing an early breakfast to additional rooms everything was perfect. THANK YOU Ashley and team.

Nice hotel with some good amenities. We loved that it had a full kitchen with a stove, fidge, microwave and dishwasher. But the bed was somewhat lumpy and hard. We stayed in a suite with a queen size bed in the bedroom and a pull out sofa in the living area. The pool was a bit small but our boys enjoyed it. The hottub was broke and the water was cold.

Travel a lot for work but never had such a horrible hotel in my life. Beds are not made, even after several requests. New towels once a week!. Toilet was full of human feces from the resident above, bath is leaking. Worst of all, you are treated very rudely and no action is taken. Even after contacting the manager, improvements are promised, but nothing happens. The new GM is rude, arrogant and disrespectful. The housekeeping manager is incompetent. Last but not least: the breakfast…. Well, you can't call it breakfast like that. Having to have breakfast outside every day out of necessity. Not recommended, never coming here again. Was nightmare! The worst review of my life!

Never had such a terrible hotel in my life. Not for business and not for holiday. Fresh towels once a week, rooms not looked after the whole week. Floors, bathrooms, swimmingpool, fitnessruimte to dirty to go in. Local manager is by far not able to run this hotel. Never again!
