The Placencia

The beach area is not wide or particularly nice sand, but the thatch shades on the beach are very nice. The water near shore is not clear, and not inviting for swimming. The pool area and swim up bar are very nice. The rooms are clean and comfortable. I saw very few actual guests here, which seemed odd.

This adventure was absolutely amazing. First time I went to Belize it was in a cruise trip which had nothing to do with this beautiful experience. The hotel overall experience was higher than expected, pool area is amazing, staff, restaurant, the deck, gardens, rooms and condos, everything was better than expected. Highly recommend if you want to spend family time away from typical tourist towns this is like home. Also for solo travelers, friends group, or couples. They have amazing day tours you can book at reception, make sure you book Mayan ruins tour and ask for some others. I also did island hopping, the best coral reef and marine life ever seen. Totally worth it. I will definitely come back and recommend this amazing hotel . Food in town wow. I can’t wait to be back.

Had a fantastic stay at The Placencia a couple of weeks ago. Staff was very accommodating and always eager to assist. Food at palapa and pool were great. Enjoyed the dock and pool for sunning. I highly recommend this place for friends traveling together or for a family.

We had an excellent time with awesome service. Everyone was so helpful and friendly and the food at the resort was delicious! I can’t wait to go back next year! The pool was fabulous and the palapa with poolside drinks and food made our time relaxing by the pool even better!

Enjoyed the gorgeous view from our beach front room. The architecture, beautiful grounds and awesome pool is like no other. Look forward to seeing room updates under the new management. All staff members were accommodating and professional. Dennis and Allen, the Adventure Desk guys, helped schedule our amazing snorkeling and fishing trips. If looking for a low key, relaxing vacation with lovely landscapes look no further.

We just returned from a fabulous vacation at The Placencia Resort. The staff was welcoming, warm and professional. The views (especially the sunrises) are picture perfect. The pool is crystal clear, spacious and inviting and the swim up bar is a great place for a cocktail. The accommodations are quite adequate. While the furnishings are a little worn the rooms were clean and comfortable. The resort booked two excursions for us and we enjoyed both very much.

Good place

I had reservations to stay in a bungalow on the beach at The Placencia; however, though reasons which remain unclear (assuming on account of the business being in transition to new managerial team), the bungalow was not available on my arrival. I was originally placed in one of the not-yet upgraded rooms, but it was really not the sort of room that I based my solo trip on. It was fine... spacious and with direct view of the ocean, but not what I had set my heart around. For anyone that knows me, I (nearly) always travel alone. As a solo female traveler, I research everything ad nauseam, months in advance. For that reason, I have very high expectations. When those expectations aren't met, I typically cut my losses and leave. This was my plan after the disruption mentioned above, and I informed the front desk as such. A couple of hours later, the owner of the resort arrived to my room to personally apologize and customize the remainder of my trip so that I felt secure, respected, and catered to. I was hesitant, but agreed to stay for a couple of days to determine the validity of this offer. Now, when I say the owner went above and beyond would be an understatement. I have done a lot of travel, but I have never experienced someone work so hard to turn my trip around. To this day, I haven't stopped having about how blown away I was at the quality of the effort put in to make my trip mind-blowing. Was the trip everything I had planned and expected? No - it was a whole other vacation, and maybe that was exactly what I actually needed. Would I book another trip to this resort? Maybe after renovations are complete, and if the personalized vegetarian options I was provided became available on the usual menu. Would I send a thank you card to the owner for creating a custom luxury vacation that made the whole trip 1000% worth it? Absolutely.

We just returned from an amazing week at the Placencia. I was a little worried before we arrived because I had read some bad reviews, but we loved it ! We flew to Placencia on Maya air. A shuttle from the hotel was waiting to take us to the resort. We traveled with 2 other families with 7 kids ranging from 4-10. We each had a two bedroom suite which were clean and spacious. The showers were my only complaint- the water was a little hard to turn on and off and the water pressure was not great. But judging from the plumbing we experienced everywhere else on Placencia, this wasn't a huge surprise. We rented golf carts for the week, which was a must. The hotel shuttles were often full and only left at certain times. We loved being able to go anywhere we wanted whenever we wanted. It was nice to have a full kitchen. We went grocery shopping and cooked most of our breakfasts in our room, as the hotel restaurant was pretty slow. The food was good for breakfast and dinner, but it took a long time. We enjoyed venturing out to Maya beach, seine bight, and into Placencia village for meals. The pool was warm and beautiful. The pool bar had a great service and delicious drinks. The beach was nice and had bags, jenga, and volleyball. We didn't swim at the beach because the sea**** made the water cloudy, but our kids enjoyed playing in the surf and doing the paddle boards and kayaks. We ate out on the pier one evening and the sunset was breathtaking. Housekeeping always came while we were out and did a great job. The excursion to Ranguana Caye was so much fun. We had a great week!
