Riu Yucatan - All Inclusive

Walking into the hotel seemed beautiful and the people seemed nice but as the time went on my experience wasn’t what I expected. Check in was at 3 and they weren’t ready to check us in on-time. Second once i got into my room it was a beautiful suite but the smell in the room smelled like mildew. Usually I check the room beds as soon as I get in but was in a rush to go to the pool and forgot. Got back to my room pull down the sheets and the sheets had blood on them. Called the front desk and the response I got was ok. No sorry I’m sending someone right now to change them. I had to ask him to send someone immediately to change the sheets. Ice machine was broken the place has no elevators we had to drag our luggage to the third floor. Another incident was we where in a friends room talking and was told we were to loud and needed to leave her room and go to our own rooms. We were escorted to our room and while in our room was told to be quiet because we were laughing too loud. Meanwhile a group of people where out late one night and no one said anything to them The food wasn’t good at all as well. I barely ate. we went to dinner one night and was limited on ordering I asked for two entrées and was told I couldn’t have two because I may not eat both. One of the ladies with me was told one entree was for two people and her and another friend could share when she mentioned to the waiter that the Potion was for one and she was hungry still if she could get another one he told her the kitchen was closed. Never mind the food came out cold to begin with. We got called Putas by one of the wait staff. She was talking to another working and didn’t realize we spoke Spanish. Overall my experience was crappy we made the best out of our stay but I will never come back to this place again. The customer service wasn’t where it should have been hope you guys make improvements because there is a lot of potential.

The room we booked directly with Riu was outdated and didn't meet our expectations. Despite requesting a sunny room on a high floor with a good view, we were given a room with no sun access and a moldy smell, making it necessary to keep the AC on constantly. When we requested a room swap on day 4, we were told we could return the next day but decided to stay put since we only had one more night left. The staff were friendly and the beach was enjoyable despite its roughness. The kids' activities were okay, but the information on the app didn't always match what was available in the kids' club. However, we didn't end up using the kids' club anyway. On the positive side, the food was good with a wide variety available.

Just had a holiday never to forget at Riu Yucatan. From the moment you enter the reception until the moment you leave, it's amazing. Beach location, rooms, food and staff are brilliant. Definitely going back.

If you want to eat do not book this resort. The food was horrible no matter where we ate breakfast was the only thing semi edible. We were served raw chicken and hot dogs multiple times at the pool grab and go. Night life was horrible pools were dirty. Rooms have no privacy if showering so do not room with anyone you dont want to see shower. Staff was rude. Called people in our group names in Spanish multiple times.
