Wyndham Alltra Playa del Carmen Adults Only All Inclusive

It is well located and protected place. Foods are amazing and there are too many different kinds. Pool is nice. It only needs a better beach. Not for a beach holiday but others are really good.

We returned this week from a 10 night stay at our favourite home away from home with more great memories. We visited the Alltra last in November, 2023. We were pleased to see the improvements to the beach. There's more sand although a detour through the water is still required to get from the main pool to the North Beach area without going through the hotel. There seems to be a larger breakwater which should help reduce erosion during storms. The sargassum was well-controlled and we were able to enjoy the view of the iconic turquoise waters from our oceanfront suite. Things were otherwise largely unchanged around the property which is fine by us as we are already planning our fall trip back to the Alltra. Special thanks to our lovely maid, Celina, waiter Abraham, bartenders Sebastien and Jesus and the world's best omelet maker, Mariano. We are told that doorman Aaron has been an employee at the hotel for 16 years. His smiling face and big hugs are the first things we experience when we step off the shuttle and last we experience when we leave. He's always the same and seemingly always there. He is a superb human being and reflects the spirit of the outstanding people who make this hotel, regardless of its name over the years, our favourite place to stay ever.

The hotel was beautiful and the service was excellent. We had an oceanfront room and unfortunately it was over the pool. The music was blaring from 11am until 7pm and the speakers faced the hotel. On the one day we wanted to stay in and relax, it was impossible. Other than that, it was a wonderful stay.

This place is a gem. Not everyone is looking for the same thing, and it's certainly possible this place isn't what you're looking for. However, if you look at the information here and believe this could be a place you would want to go, I encourage you to give it a try. I've stayed here three times now; each time I had an amazing experience, and each time I left looking forward to returning again. Here are some reasons I find this place so appealing: Staff/Service - The staff and service are outstanding. The people are very friendly, but more than that, many of them are singularly focused on doing what they can to help you enjoy your stay. They've done an awesome job of creating a culture of service at the resort, and you will notice it from the moment you step on the property. In all the interactions I've had here with the staff, I've never had poor service... not once. Value/Quality - Going to an all-inclusive place tends to be a value proposition, and this place doesn't just offer great value for the money, it offers great quality. It isn't the newest place or the fanciest place, but it is beautiful, clean, and well-maintained. You will literally see staff constantly cleaning and maintaining the facilities all through the day. The rooms I've stayed in are simple, but nice and clean (although the birds can make a mess on the balconies). The dinner-only restaurants are classy, the food throughout the resort is high quality, and the food selection is great. I never feel like they are taking shortcuts because the place is all inclusive; rather, I always feels like the emphasis here is on providing quality (rather than cutting quality to save costs) and that I get great value for the money I spend. Location - The location here is hard to beat. The resort sits right on a beautiful white sand beach looking over the turquoise water of the Caribbean (of course, so do lots of other resorts in this area). However, what sets this place apart is it is also right in Playa del Carmen. You're not trapped in the middle of nowhere, and you don't have to book transportation just to get away. Just walk out the front of the resort and within a couple of blocks you're on 5th avenue, a vibrant walking-only street with lots of restaurants, shops, entertainment, etc. If you do want to take your explorations further afield, there are lots of places within easy reach, and lots of opportunities to book your tour/excursion. Again, not everyone is looking for the same thing, and it's quite possible this isn't what you're looking for. I encourage you to look at the pictures, read through the available information, look through the reviews, and decide if it sounds like your kind of place. If it does, give it a try and judge for yourself. Chances are you will be very happy with that decision. The Wyndham Adults ONly at Playa del Carmen is a lovely resort. We enjoyed most everything about it! It's not a mega resort, which we actually liked. You are close to the Fifth Street shopping area and also the pier that takes you to the ferries for Cozumel. If you are wanting a wide expansive beach, however, you won't find it here. They do keep the beach area clean and there is a fun little beachside tiki hut and plenty of chairs. But no umbrellas on the beach. Food is above average and we loved having 24/7 room service if we wanted it for no extra charge. I would definitely come here again. The staff is lovely and helpful. We had a junior suite oceanfront room that also overlooked the pool. We enjoyed just hanging out on our balcony with cocktails, enjoying the scenery and people watching. With our particular package, our airport transfer/shuttle was included and that made things alot smoother getting and to and from the airport. If you are looking for a "wild" party scene, this probably isn't your place. We enjoyed meandering down Fifth Avenue shopping district and hopping the ferry to Cozumel. From there, we rented a car and bopped all over Cozumel. A fun day for sure!
