There was no service throughout the stay whatsoever Some of the staff were rude, inattentive, unhelpful and unprofessional. The breakfast buffet was not good. Dirty rooms, towels with sand, showers with sharp stone floor, cannot shower barefoot or you will get cuts, no room near the sink to place necessities, rusty faucets and mirrors, smell like sewerage in the room. Uncomfortable bed, sheets and pillows, felt like we slept on the floor. A/C doesn’t work properly, prepare to sweat throughout the night. In unheated pools, the water was too cold even when it was 85 degrees outside. people come from the beach all sandy and wash themselves inside the pool and jacuzzi and no one cares. The worst hotel I have ever stayed in. It’s close to the city. Price of a 5-star hotel, but the whole experience felt like 2-star hotel.

My wife and I are booked to stay here May 1 thru 10. I keep reading I. The reviews that the beach is public. Aren’t these reviewer’s aware that all beaches in Mexico are public? Looking forward to having a great time here as Wifey and I visit Mexico at least 4 times a year. Love the Country and its people.

the rooms were sparkling clean and the staff was wonderful. the grounds were gorgeous. i had a weird experience at the spa where i was shorted on my 80 minute massage by almost half an hour but they made it up to me. when i went back for the additional 30 mins i booked a facial as well which to be completely honest was super overpriced and the guy used tissue paper to clean my face and put over my eyes etc. i didn't think that it was worth the $175 USD i paid for it plus i am canadian so with the exchange rate it cost more than a spectacular oxygen facial i could get here in Toronto. that was a bummer. the food was okay. sometimes delicious and sometimes not.

2nd time staying at the Mahekal, but definitely the last. We made are stay shorter because of disappointment. The room was worst than a hostel room in the slumps, they made my pregnant wife in the heat go back and forward around the hotel messing up her day. After we complained the supervisor told us to wait in our room for him to come and didn’t even show up. Huge huge disappointment and extremely rude and Murat hey to charge 250$ a night for a shot hole room that hasn’t been cleaned or fixed from the 90’s

Let me start with the positive. The waitstaff and cleaning crew are amazing- pleasant and responsive. The property is pretty and the food is excellent for an all inclusive. This place fails with management and a total lack of customer service. We booked two beds, which I personally confirmed directly with the hotel a month ahead of time. When we arrived they told us that they only had a king and could switch it the next day. The resort was half empty so there is no excuse for this. Any simple thing requested at the front desk was met with a "no" and an attitude. As the owner of a travel business I can't express how big of an issue this is at this hotel- it makes for an unpleasant experience as you feel like you are pulling teeth for basic services. The extras that you allegedly get with ******* will be conveniently "unavailable"- again with the hotel at half capacity. The room smells of mold which suggests that they shut the AC down when not in use- I suspect the lack of "rooms" is because they rotate which ones they use. The outdoor shower was filthy- it hadn't been stepped in in many months. The small pool in area 9 was filthy- cloudy, dirty and without running water. This place has incredible potential but it just appears as if they are struggling financially or that the owners simply don't care. Disappointing.

This was our 2nd stay at Mahekal, in consecutive years, both in April. I would go to Mahekal every year for the rest of my life if I could! Staff is charming and welcoming — we felt like Manuel was family when we left (also shoutout to Enrique, Sofia, and Emilia). The property is so lovely and serene (not for you if you’re looking for high energy, activity filled resort). You feel simultaneously whisked away from it all, but also you can step outside the resort and walk to restaurants and bars. I recommend at least getting the plan that includes breakfast — fresh juices (get the green juice!), made from scratch tortillas, pastries, fruit, everything you could want. Start your day looking at the ocean from Las Olas restaurant, with Manuel! Then go from pool, to beach, to hammock. Repeat daily.
