The property and the rooms were beautiful and well maintained. We loved our view from the balcony. The beach is beautiful and has been improved since last year with many yards of added sand. We enjoyed each of the restaurants and bars each night. The food choices and meals were excellent! We enjoyed the kind and helpful staff. This is our second time staying here and we will definitely return again. We feel very welcome and safe at this resort.

Luis Dominguez is the best. He deserves a raise. All week he was so friendly and polite and would go out of his way to make sure we had what we wanted at the pool area. Give him a raise and a promotion. The rest of the experience was good. The Asia restaurant was amazing and the trivia was a bunch of fun at the pool.

The place needs a MASSIVE OVERHAUL and install new ACs. Most rooms and restaurants have no functioning ACs. The restaurants are ridiculously hot . Depending on when you're going, you need to be ready to be overheated while dining. The in-room Nespresso machines also don't work and the staff just says they do after you proved to them they didn't. The food is maybe 3* after the ownership change to Barcelo. The quality and variety of foods and beverages are a disappointment. The hotel is well-appointed though. When there are no crowds, getting a lounge chair is of no issue. If you go at busy times, I heard ppl were very aggressive and disappointed about not getting any due to various factors. It's dated looking hotel but still acceptable.

I was at this resort in February and loved it so much that I returned with family in May. This resort has several perks. There are no wrist bands or towel cards and my travel agent made all of our dinner reservations in advance. In February the weather was perfect with very little humidity. May is very hot and humid. I still love everything about this resort, but the air conditioning in the rooms must be addressed. I love the sun, but must be able to sleep at night. Please fix this problem so that we can return next May.

Buenas instalaciones, habitaciones cómodas y buena ubicación. Lo mejor fue el staff, muy servicial y atentos en todo momento, trato muy personalizado. Especial mencion a Genardo Ek (beach and pool runner), Jorge Ramírez (beach and pool runner), Alfonso (entretnimiento) y Yusel (entretenimiento).. sin ellos no hubiera sido lo mismo! Siempre con una sonrisa y excelente atención al cliente! Es un hotel para adultos, ideal para venir a relajarse. La edad promedio son 40 para arriba. Room service 24h, consergie por villa y habitaciones cómodas y limpias. Hay 5 restaurantes con gran variedad de comida ideal para no aburrirte. Hay un pequeño cocktail bar que cierra a la 1am. Con juegos de mesa y pool. Lo recomendaría sobretodo por el staff!

En general me gusto,aunque hay cosas a mejorar como zumos desayuno, café, más animación nocturna o por lo menos más animada y como españoles notamos que el trato es mejor a los canadienses y estadounidenses.

Segunda vez que venimos a Royal Hideaway, ya que la experiencia, gastronomía y la tranquilidad es única. Este lugar es para relajarse de verdad, no hay mucho ruido como en otros all inclusive, es solo adultos y la atención es de muy buena calidad. Quiero agradecer especialmente a Genaro, que el primer día nos dió una muy buena clase de tequila, nos enseño el proceso desde el origen y como diferenciar entre tequilas reposados, añejos, etc. algo que yo no sabia!!! Gracias Genaro por quedarte un par de minutos más para aclarar todas nuestras dudas y también por el excelente servicio en la piscina. Este lugar tiene tragos de calidad! Tb agradecer a Yuni por la energia en las clases de baile en la piscina! El último día para sorpresa nos trajeron un postre luego de nuestra cena Tepanyaki que decia buen viaje, muchas Gracias por eso!

We are so very sad at the state of the Royal Hideaway Playacar. We have been over a dozen times in the last 15 years (and sadly probably our last). THE AIR CONDITIONING DOES NOT WORK in the rooms or the restaurants (it stays higher than 80 degrees). The previous reviews are all correct. With twenty plus different buildings, it is obvious the resort has never upgraded any of their AC systems. There is no reason every building and restaurant should be that hot at a Five Star resort. When we called (after reading reviews) to book the room a week before, we were assured that everything was fixed. We called the day before our arrival and were told it was fine. They lied! The knew it. Upon arrival, the front desk told us that the AC systems still were not working. We asked if we could have a future credit and come back (they said NO) and they would not refund the money. My advise- message anyone who has had a recent stay. If the AC is still not repaired, cancel and book else wehere. The Staff are still amazing ... the place can be great. (just be truthful with your guests)
