SBH Club Paraiso Playa

A very tired old lady of a grand hotel. Not surprising post Covid and time required for these hotel chains to recover! I went full board which is defiantly the way to go. Definitely more of a family friendly hotel. Still in the early days of my trip, I need to figure out how to get around to see the sights - public transport is severely lacking!

The reviews on this hotel do not do it justice, me and my boyfriend stayed late January and thought it was the best holiday we’ve had, the staff were so friendly and helpful, the entertainment was perfect with things to do all day and on the evening with a kids show and contests on the night. Drinks and food were standard all inclusive, not bad at all though for the price we paid. With it being a 30 second walk to the beach and so lively I would definitely recommend.

Staff are excellent in all areas, helpful and friendly. Hotel is very tired inside, lacks any a**osphere in restaurant and bar areas, background music played quietly would enhance this. Food in restaurant is very repetitive, having said that you could find something to eat most days. I must say the breakfast choice is by far the best meal of the day, lots of choices both hot and cold. Evening meals lack choice, same veg, same potatoes most nights.Two other SBH hotels on the island offer themed night but this one doesnt, having said you can book to travel to others for the themed evening, but would have been nice for this hotel to do something on a similar nature. If you dont have your own transport this would be a costly night out for transport costs. Pool area offers lots of different areas for you to sit in peace and quiet or have the main pool madness with families so thats good. Always lots of sunbeds available most of the day, but be aware some are broken and wont allow to prop up. Lovely view into the ocean. My main concern is the bar areas only seem to have 1 person serving most of the time so in an evening queues can be long, so order 2 to save queuing again.You can serve yourself soft drinks and beer from pumps. Bedrooms are quite spacious and cleaned daily and replenished, but again need some loving care, very dated. it was my husbands birthday whilst we were there and a bottle of wine and 2 glasses were left for us which was a lovely gesture and also the offer of decorating a table in the diningroom for us. Overall value for money was ok but definitely 3 star and not 4 star as advertised. It seems to be the "poor relation" compared to the other 2 hotels in the chain on the island, nothing that a paint job and ambience could easily put it back to where it needs to be. Would we visit again? doubtful as it lacked love!

So yes… I may have enjoyed the Prosecco at breakfast with my perfectly cooked fried eggs, and the help yourself delicious beer on tap, but my goodness this place is really lovely! You can eat inside or out at any meal and the staff are so attentive. It’s on the beach, a lovely beach too! The pools are abundant and you can choose from quiet to buzzing (although some inconsiderate parent had left a swim nappy in one). The lifeguards are friendly and attentive and as a single mum on her first solo holiday with a 7 and 10 year old I have felt completely safe! The kids playground is great. The rooms are clean, the staff so friendly, This evening the dinner was unbelievable. The best mussels I’ve ever had…the best mushroom soup I’ve ever tasted. Prawns, steak, chips, endless yummy vino. There’s pool tables, a gaming room, shop on site. We will be back! Thank you so much 🫶🏼

Really poor experience starting the moment we arrived. Hotel is run down and nothing like the photoshopped pictures on its website, and in the middle of nowhere. They are charging 4 star prices for a 2 star experience. It was so bad a group of us left this depressing place after 2 days and moved to a proper 4 star hotel at our own expense. The difference between this hotel and our new hotel was amazing based on the same cost per night so please do your research before booking this place as this is misrepresenting people and a 2 star at best.
