SBH Club Paraiso Playa

Playa Jandia|5.16km from city centre
This is a nice hotel, next to an amazing beach. Maybe I was lucky, but surprisingly, I did not experience any of the negativities that other reviewers mention. The room was not dated, it was spacious, well kept, everything worked fine and it contained everything one would need for a summer break. There is no coffee or tea making equipment in the room, but it wasn't mentioned nor was I expecting it. Whenever I wanted to drink coffee or tea, it was available from the snack bar or the restaurant. The hotel, while obviously not brand new, is well maintained and well designed. I am architect and I understand architecture. Stepping out of the room takes you into a garden, organized around an architectural promenade that offers a variety of views and spaces. There is more than one way to reach your room and some of them offer breathtaking views of the surroundings. There are no brutal and endless corridors stacked with rooms. There is no echo from late-returning and yelling guests or occasional door slamming. If you get up early, you can watch the sunrise form the front-facing rooms. The weakest point was the food - there is strange inversion between lunch and dinner, whereas the dinner was richer and more sumptuous than the lunch. I understand that may be a Spanish tradition, bit it may not sit well for visitors from continental Europe that like to go to bed with an empty stomach. But, you won't go hungry. As I did not go there to eat, but to enjoy the amazing scenery, the lovely weather and the clean air, it was a minor nuisance. There are numerous steps between the hotel and the beach, but it is nothing to worry about - unless you have some very serious mobility issues, you'll be fine.
