We had a harbour view room with a balcony and the room was amazing! We had requested a bottle of wine in the room and it was lovely to have a celebration birthday drink on the balcony when we first arrived. The bed was really comfortable and the bed linen was lovely quality. From a personal view I like quite plump or firm pillows so I did struggle with sleep a bit The spa was great although it was a shame the outdoor pool wasn't available. Even unheated it would have been nice but the sauna and steam room were great. The food in the restaurant was amazing and one of the nicest desserts I've ever had. The restaurant manager was really efficient and attentive. Breakfast was also really good with good quality ingredients. A couple of really tiny issues that would have turned my score from 4 to 5 stars. The selection of teas etc in the room was good including a Nespresso machine but we weren't left a spoon which was a little annoying. There were two of us but there was one little bottle each of shower gel, shampoo and conditioner. As we used the spa, we each had a shower in the evening and then again in the morning so whilst I appreciate reducing costs is important it meant we had to ration use. Although it would require a bigger outlay initially, perhaps in the future moving to refillable dispensers attached to the wall in the bathroom could be a way to reduce the amount of disposable bottles without guests feeling they have been rationed. We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package but the staff in the dining room didn't seem to know how this should be recorded in the system so we were initially presented with a full bill for our dinner. After some checking with her manager we ended up correctly paying for the drinks we had with dinner. Unfortunately when checking out the next day the system still showed we owed money for the drinks the previous night and again, a manager had to be called to figure out that it was to do with the way the costs for drinks the night before had been entered in the system. So whilst all staff we encountered were really pleasant, it seems a little bit of training is required in how to deal with recording the deals being offered to guests in the payment system. Overall, a great stay in a fantastic location with high quality food so we would definitely come again.

The Haven Hotel is a favourite of ours. We recently stayed again for five nights. We had a lovely large room with balcony and everything was very clean, bed was made, clean towels etc every day, along with a refresh of tea, coffee and biscuits. All the staff we met were extremely smiley, pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was as good as always and we were lucky that the weather was good enough for us to sit outside to eat breakfast, watching the boats go by. We decided to eat our evening meal in the hotel restaurant one evening, and it was so good we did it again! Really excellent meals, compliments to the chef! Yes the hotel is a little “tired” in places but I really hope it keeps going. The only bad thing was the second time I used the indoor pool there were a lot of ants on the side of the pool. The lifeguard hosed them down but I felt they might have been washed into the pool and I didn’t fancy using it again after that, which was a shame. But hopefully that issue will be resolved.

Stayed in the budget double which is exactly that! Dark and dingy but the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was big. Last time we stayed in a room with balcony and that was really nice! Dinner was disappointing this time. When we stayed in April it was delicious but too greasy on this occasion

This hotel is beautiful. The views from the balcony of the harbour are fabulous. Great breakfast and nice evening meals. We did bed and breakfast. The reception and diming room staff and cleaners are very helpful. I would highly recommend this beautiful hotel. There is a little beach right outside the hotel. Lovely views from the hotel of the sea and beach.

Many things were off about this hotel, the hotel was soul less (quite literally) the price is top end but the hotel not top end. The hotel is tired and in need of much TLC. the bedsheets weren't on the bed properly, yellow water came out of the tap when I first used it in the sink in the bathroom, the food for breakfast looked like it had been sat there for hours and we heard one member of staff say to another member of staff "Stir the beans, make them look better!". One of the reasons we chose Haven was for the pool and spa. The outside pool wasn't open and the inside one looked dated and empty (of people). It had a creepy empty feeling (mainly I think because it was empty) the dining area where you ate breakfast looked like it was a hotel that was closed for the summer break, it was also huge (Like a ballroom) and the main entrance to the spa was through this dining area. We were really disappointed so much so that we didn't stay for the duration of our intended trip and checked out after day one, we then checked into the Nici (in Bournemouth) - which in comparison was so so lovely, two pools and beautiful décor etc. And the price - it was actually cheaper! I wouldn't have minded as much if there hadn't been much availability left in the area and the website hadn't been so misleading but it was and we felt very let down. Thankfully they did part refund our stay which we were very grateful for. Until this hotel has been refurbed and brought up to the relevant 4 stars, I wouldn't bother and can highly recommend the Nici instead.

We had a luxurious corner room with a big L-shaped balcony overlooking a magnificent view of the sea and the harbour and the boats and ships. The staff were helpful and polite. We had several dinners in the restaurant, which offered a menu of fine quality. My daughter is immune-compromised, and they bent over backwards to serve us at a distance from other guests. This is the second time I have stayed in the hotel, and I was not disappointed. Service had improved significantly since the last time I visited, and I have no complaints at all.
