I am writing to share my recent experience at Iberostar Selection Albufera Playa in Mallorca, which regrettably fell significantly short of expectations for a 4-star resort. The thin walls in our room allowed noise from adjacent rooms to disrupt our sleep almost every night. Despite requesting a quiet room, we were placed near the elevator and building entrance, and moving rooms didn’t help. The new room had ineffective air conditioning and a non-functional refrigerator. Essential items like cups and spoons were not replenished daily, and we were disturbed by staff knocking on our door for random checks, both from the inside and the outside. The coffee machines in the buffet areas were turned off at lunch and dinner, with it impossible to order coffee as well. The food quality was subpar—greasy, tasteless, and excessively salty. The variety was also lacking, with theme nights doing little to mix it up. The service was slow in the sites main restaurants, even if the food was an step up, relying on a single tablet for taking orders, causing significant delays. Broken toilet locks, including one near the bar, led to privacy violations for my wife. Men frequently walked into the ladies' toilets due to poor signposting. This was uncomfortable for all and should not be happening at a resort of this supposed level. While the staff were friendly, they seemed inadequately trained. We frequently saw dropped plates and cutlery, and at the café, a staff member had to be shown how to make a cup of tea. These issues indicate a lack of proper training and a real lack of how to handle busy periods. My wife and I actually felt sorry for the staff here, as while it was always service with a smile, outside of the experienced members of the team, most appeared to look lost and overworked a lot of the time. The pool hours were restrictive, closing at 6 pm despite long daylight hours. The hot tub, designated for those over 14, was often packed with young children, making it difficult to relax. The bar and entertainment area had a large pillar blocking the view. Outside of a couple of nights, it's case of the less said about the entertainment here the better. While the checkout process was extremely slow with not even a bellboy being on hand on arrival. We went for above standard room that supposedly had its own dedicated pool area exclusively for those who had booked rooms in that part of the hotel. But, we might as well not have bothered, as other hotel guests freely used it, as there happened to be unmanned gate near it. I would also say that all-inclusive is pointless at this resort, as the staff don't check wristbands at any point for any guests, so everyone gets the all-inclusive experience regardless of what they pay it seems. The cumulative impact of these failings, especially given the high cost of our stay (it's hardly cheap for 10 nights, all-inclusive), compels me to question the management and operational standards at this resort. This has been our
