Descobertas Boutique Hotel Porto

The first main reason to stay at this hotel was to see Luis bridge directly. Super close to river within 50 steps from hotel and easy to see bridge. But the hotel room had 2 major defects. The first one was drain system at shower booth did not work well. whenever i took shower, the water did not drain well and it was about to overflow and flood over shower booth. The second one was my room was at top of the building where i could enjoy the sky through the window. But the problem was that the window did not close firmly. Overall, everything was perfect like location, friendly staff except 1 woman at front desk whose behavior did look so angry all the time. Of course i can understand why that hotel's facilities were not in good condition because the building was totally old. Breakfast was very nice to enjoy. Before i stay in Porto, i had stayed 3 nights at Holiday inn in Lisbon. Comparing with 2 hotels each other in terms of breakfast, this hotel seemed to be better. Next time, if i should travel in Porto, i would find another hotel except this one due to those defects i've mentioned above.

What a lovely little gem of a hotel, just off the front on a side road, 1 min from the square where it’s all going on! Breakfast was great, warm food and cold, cakes, bread, lovely yogurts, fresh fruit salad! The lady in the breakfast room was attentive and lovely! Rooms great, showers lovely, beds comfy.. staff in front desk were fabulous, friendly and welcoming! Would definitely recommend! Thankyou for a lovely stay

A great little hotel! Just one road back from the waterfront in the Riberia. No views, but a really good location. We liked the breakfast. There were only three hot food items, but lots of choice of cold pastries, both sweet and savoury, yoghurt, fresh fruit and cereals. The selection changed daily and offered a lot of choice. Our room was very spacious and modern. Lovely big bed and good power shower. There was a little noise from the restaurant next door meaning we couldn’t leave the window open, but it wasn’t disturbing. All the staff were friendly and courteous. We’d definitely return!

We are here now for a week and found much of the previous review from Lewis during Sept. 23 to be very accurate. The maintenance of the rooms is deteriorating. We have a lav. Faucet that the. Handle falls off as well as doesn’t stop running along with the shower diverter knob that fills off. A few days ago we let the font desk know as well as letting them know every day. They say it can’t be looked at for a few days. I would avoid this place for a while. Maybe some day they will fix things up and be a decent hotel instead of running it into the ground.
