The worst hotel ever!!!

I want to start by thanking the entertainment team for such a great job with the shows and the service. Thank you for such a wonderful vacation. The entire resort did a fantastic job, the food was excellent, the rooms were beautiful, and we loved the beach. Thank you so much, EMOTIONS! My family is very happy. We will definitely be back.

It was wonderful; it has been my favorite travel destination since the first time I was there, and the atmosphere was breathtaking . I particularly enjoyed the food and the hotel room; I have never met such nice staff, so thanks to Elvin & Alexander.

My stay at the hotel was, without exaggeration, one of the worst vacation experiences I have ever had in my life. From the very beginning, things were handled poorly. We clearly informed the reservation team that we were adults, yet we were initially placed on the 3rd and 4th floors with no proper accessibility, requiring us to use stairs. After requesting a change, we were moved to Building 19, first floor — which turned out to be an even worse situation. On the very first night, while my wife was taking a shower, a rat came out from behind the toilet. I had to call staff immediately. Shockingly, only one person was sent — no proper maintenance or pest control team — and I ended up having to assist in removing and killing the rat myself. This is completely unacceptable under any standard. That same night, around midnight, it began to rain heavily. Both my room and my son’s room flooded. The hotel staff took over 40 minutes to respond, and during that time, we had to manage the situation ourselves, using towels to try to stop the water from spreading further into the room. The worst part is that the drainage system was completely dysfunctional — instead of draining water out, it allowed water to come back into the room. There was no effective solution. Every time it rained again, the rooms flooded again. After hours of dealing with this situation, around 4:00 AM, we were finally moved to another building — only to find that the first floor there was also flooded. We were then reassigned to the 4th floor, but the elevator was not working due to the rain. We had no choice but to carry all our luggage up four flights of stairs. This entire experience was chaotic, exhausting, and completely unacceptable. Basic standards of cleanliness, safety, infrastructure, and customer service were not met at any point during our stay. In summary, this was not just an inconvenience — it was a total failure on multiple levels. I expect this complaint to be taken seriously.

We stayed at Emotions Puerta Plata March 31 to April 7 as a group of four. We have stayed in high end 5+ star and low end 3 star resorts during many years of travel to the DR. Mexico and Caribbean. Emotions PP was a last minute choice as an Easter get away and we were not expecting perfection. The resort grounds and rooms are very clean and well maintained. The rooms a bit dated but completely functional. We had clean towels daily and the mini bar was replenished with water, pop and two mini cans of Presidente beer. The shower water was often lukewarm but the resort was a full capacity over Easter. The food at the buffet was excellent - saw the chef doing a check while there, so it shows someone cares. The A la Carte restaurants were good. Restaurant staff often seemed well intention-ed but need a bit more training. For the resort price point OK! The bars were again ; OK. The drinks were served quickly and were easy to get. Unfortunately there is no lobby bar and the resort lobby is small and not a place to relax. The entertainment is typical DR resort stuff: Loud, amateurish, cheery and colorful - the noise dropped after 10:30PM . The pools are very small but the beach is lovely and there always seems to be enough beach chairs. I recommend the darker blue ones as they seem newer. There are lots of beach vendors but if you say no, they leave you alone. We tip at resorts, if service is good and did so when deserved, we have found the Dominican resorts are classy and seem not to grub for tips. This is a lovely difference from some other destinations. Overall: Emotions is a good clean basic resort on a lovely bit of sand, a good value for the price point.

I would like to start by saying, I have stayed at multiple all inclusive resorts in multiple different countries and this one was my least favourite . I don’t usually complain and this is my first negative review ever written. 1. The staff selling the elite club membership were harassing us non stop to talk to them about buying time shares . After multiple no’s Frank sent his manager over to harass us too. When we had to be assertive with our no instead of our typical Canadian nice nature they persisted the next day and every day until the last day of our vacation. These guys were worse than the vendors on the beach. The vendors actually take no for an answer and are quite nice if you chat with them. ( specifically the guy who calls himself #1 is not pushy at all and very lovely). 2. For an all inclusive we had to pay for some many things to have a good experience. There were zero à la cartes available for days when we arrived and to avoid eating the buffet that was just okay every evening we had to pay for wine at the wine bar or book a paid reservation restaurant. ( that’s not my idea of all inclusive!) 3. Beach was dirty with garbage and a risk for cutting your feet. There were however some incredible honourable mentions: Chemi in the wine bar always went above and beyond, Jemison at the beach bar made awesome drinks with a smile, Juan from housekeeping was great and always so positive, and poor Yvonne who had to hear so many complaints from all of the guests at the front desk but always did whatever she could to make things better. Overall I would not go again for the price we paid. If it was half off maybe but not worth full price March break prices!

When we got there, they acted like they didn’t know who we were. It took them a long time to find our reservation. I had spoken to them the day before to confirm we were coming. We were taken to an office called the elite collection. They still did not know who we were. I showed them the confirmation. Then they said they would take us on a tour and get us something to eat. So they took us out to the beach where there was a restaurant and we ate and had drinks and I definitely got the feeling they were stalling because they couldn’t find our reservation. then they came back and got us and took us back to this elite collection office and then walked us around the property near the office. I was beyond irritated because I had been on the road now for 24 hours. We get back to the office and they said that they had a room for us, we paid the inclusive fees and they took us to our room. The man who took us to our room, said he was going to meet us at 10 in the morning for breakfast and show us a tour. I’m like why we just took a tour. The slider in the room was broken. We could hardly get it open and in the bathroom, light up mirror was hanging off the wall by the wiring. The fan did not work. We put our stuff away and putour bathing suits on and went out to the pool and went to get a towel and found out that we needed a card to get a towel. We went back to the elite collection office and said do we need cards to get a towel? They said oh yeah. They handed us some cards. Then they said you should have orange towels. They should be in your room. They called somebody and said OK. They’re taking orange towels to your room. We took our cards. We went back to the office and got blue towels and went out to the elite collection pool next to the beach. The hot tubs were not hot. Later on I checked all the hot tubs on the property and none of them were hot. Are they trying to save money? The next morning we met the young man for breakfast and then he took us to another office where they tried to sell us a timeshare. We kept telling them we did not want to buy a timeshare. We had a timeshare. We were there on our timeshare. I think maybe they thought since we already had a timeshare we would be dumb enough to sign up for another one. So that took up two hours of our time that we kept telling them no. We just wanted to go and relax, not run around with a timeshare sales presentation. And by the way, no orange towels. We go back to our room and our keys don’t work. Sixto from the elite collection came over and opened our room. We told him about the orange towels. He called somebody who brought them over. We showed him the door that did not work and the light up mirror hanging from the wall by its wiring.. He called somebody. Several hours later somebody came and fixed the mirror back onto the wall. The door never did get fixed. We always had to wrestle it to get it opened. The rest of the property was kind of tired, but things were kept clean. Housekeeping for
