Senator Puerto Plata

I am still here until 5/19/24. This place is borderline terrible unless this is your first trip abroad and you don't know what to expect. This is "definitely not" a 5-Star resort and is more akin to a 2-Star Caribbean Resort. The check-in is laborious and you cannot expect your room to be ready prior to 3pm even if rooms are ready. When we finally got to our room there was only 1 towel and an empty mini bar. Trust me when I say you will not have anything in your mini bar and no matter how many time you ask for it to be filled, there is no response. My wife sat down on the bed and it crashed to the floor. Luckily she was not hurt. Such a wonderful 1st impression to this "5-Star." We were finally moved to another room down the hall only to find out there is no privacy in the shower. It has a glass enclosure that looks directly into the living area. Don't bring a teenager if you don't want them to see you shower. Again, the new room didn't have necessary set of towels. The resort manager should be ashamed of this place as there is no quality control whatsoever. Now for the staff and amenities. The bar staff in every bar could not care less if you are here. You can try to order a drink but you will have to wait until the staff has finished their conversations with each other. They see you standing there and won't even acknowledge you until they want to. It's that way at every bar on the premises. I ordered a Tanqueray and tonic at the bar and was told the premium alcohol is only for the members of the club. Ergo this is NOT an all inclusive resort like you get everywhere else in the Caribbean. My wife drinks Diet Coke but the whole resort is devoid of diet drinks. What a 5-Star? Forget about it if you are diabetic. If you are an English speaker there are no English speaking tv channels unless you want to watch the BBC and CNN. There are rainy days where tv could entertain you, just not here. The beach is filthy and the water is dirty. There's an adequate amount of beach chairs because no one wants to get in that water. Instead they crowd the pool. Unfortunately if you want a seat at the pool under an umbrella, you're out of luck. People leave their towels over the chairs all night so the will have them the next day whether they use them or not. Now let's talk about their Club for Members. I asked at the desk if there was a price for their "Club" when I arrived and was referred to their timeshare sales people. I spent 1 afternoon with the sales people who all kept telling me it is not a time share because there is no maintenance fee. During their presentation, I kept objecting to them because everything they were telling me was a timeshare even though they would not admit it. They wanted me to pay $20,000 to join their club of 10,500 resorts that I could travel to anywhere in the world at any time. They use RCI and 7across to set up you vacations. RCI and 7across (owned by RCI) are TIMESHARE COMPANIES. DO NOT believe them and DO NOT purchase their

Excellent service and attention, all in the installation is located near to the rooms, and you can enjoy the beach at the same time that you desire to drink something, and the lookout has a beautiful view pf the port in amber cove and the sea, enjoy Senator Puerto Plata Spa Resort

We had a great time, the animation team is awesome, Shampoo and Speedy are the sweetest. Monkey black is the best hype man! The cleaning crew works really hard to keep the hotel clean and the team working at Mokka were always making sure that we left with a smile. Thank you guys!

Enthusiastic, energetic, positive work ethic. Super fun, encouraging everyone to participate in the resort activities, interactive with all. Clean resort, entertainment crew is all very friendly and amazing. Best trip experience in the DR so far, been here 3 times and definitely coming back!

The resort is a beautiful place with friendly staff and tasty food, but there are little things than need to be fixed, like the WiFi is terrible in the rooms, and there is not that much seating and shade by the pool. The rooms are outdated and could be better. There is also a small amount of things that kids can do other than swim in the pool. The pools are way too loud and need to be peaceful. The Ultimate Leisure club tour is a scam, and shouldn't exist. Other than these, this place is beautiful and fun.

Beautiful landscaping. Nice beach, fun to see the cruise ships go in and out of Amber Cove.
