Riu Republica - Adults Only - All Inclusive

This hotel is absolutely HORRIBLE! DO NOT COME!!! Due to the services I have experienced at the Riu Republica in Punta Cana, I will never come back to the DR again. Upon arrival, I waited almost 2 hours in line just to get checked in. The hotel reeks of sewage, mold & standing water. My air in my room was broken on the first night. Resulting in having to sleep with my balcony door unlocked and open because it was so unbearably hot and stuffy. When I tried to tell Reception, no one answered the phone. That is 100% unsafe, anything could’ve happened to me. For the past 3 nights we have been forced to eat at the disgusting buffet, where I’ve literally seen people sniffing, licking and tasting food and putting it back. We were literally racially profiled while trying to make a reservation in the steak house restaurant for dinner one night, which was her birthday night. I was told that the bookings were all full, then watched as a white couple proceeded to make a reservation far the same exact time slot. The servers and bartenders will look right past us and serve other people that just walked up while we already waited in line. No one speaks English in the kitchen which is completely insane due to the fact that they are handling our food. What if people have allergies? The gift shop staff had horrible nasty attitudes and on the last night of our stay, my best friend’s and her sister’s room door lock had died and their room door was unlocked and open for who knows how long. We proceeded to call the desk and no one answered. After going to the front we still waiting about 2 hours to be serviced. On top of that you have to literally watch them change your sheets because they will not change them. The mattresses are nasty and dirty. Luckily I brought my own blankets and pillow. And I never slept under the sheets. This is the most horrible hotel resort experience that I have had. I just landed back home this morning, so I am letting you know I am not BSing y’all! DO NOT DO IT!!!

I will say this I have more pros than cons about the RIU republica it was what it was it was a good bang for your buck, nice beach, plenty of pools, great and attentive staff, plenty of bars and night life. The food was average to ok but i was expecting that and the rooms were outdated but I was expecting that too but they were very clean. I wish the pillows bigger and more variety of music but those things wouldnt be a deal breaker. The biggest hiccup and complaint in our trip was we were unaware that it college spring break, so we’re talking 100’s of kids between 18-22 with the majority being being loud a d obnoxious and invasive. Maybe for the future designated areas or hours for older guest to enjoy themselves as well. But overall it gets a 6/10 from very affordable and will get the job done as long as you dont go during spring break but besides that its ok.

Hard to believe and went against our better judgement . BUT those negative reviews are VERY ACCURATE. RIU Republica Punta is THE WORST of all of the RIUs that I have travelled. The place is dirty in the pools, and around. There is no cleanliness and a complete disregard for keeping it enjoyable. We travelled with 20 people and we all got sick. This is not right and a terrible experience. It has alot to do with the upkeep and cleanliness. If you are ok with a 1 star hotel with 18 year old who have no respect for the property this is the place to be. Drink and puke in the pool. ENJOY. Management needs to maintain the pools and clean them daily and at various intervals and measure the ecoli in the water. Food was same at the theme restaurants. Tables are dirty and when they clean they don't use any cleaning products. Its the same raggy wet cloth. So when you eat your getting sick to. Bussing to RIU party is terrible. No controls in place and it terrible. Ran out of towels and beverages in the bar fridge . Always had to call because there was none. STAY AWAY FROM THIS RESORT . RIU MGMT needs to make changes fast. We all will not be travelling to any RIUs any more.

Our room was very clean and well taken care of. The hallways had no air conditioning, stairwells and elevators were very dirty and smelled. Food was average for not being American. Breakfast buffet was delicious. Pools were not overcrowded except maybe the party pool but there are plenty of others to choose from to avoid crowds. The employees were all wonderful, kind and accommodating!! We got to know a few bartenders, waitresses, and waiters they were awesome!! Housekeeping were very accommodating and kept our room very clean. Definitely a party hotel, which is probably the reason for the dirty hallways and stairs. If the noise and parties bother you I would avoid this hotel. One thing I found very strange was someone from the hotel knocked and knocked on our door at 3am and woke us to check our safe. I would have reported it because it was so strange but we were leaving early that morning and I forgot. Was just very odd. We would return to this resort. We go for the sunshine and beach. The beach was also amazing with lots of room to avoid the large crowds.
