The good the bad and great.... We went to Dreams Onyx in May 2024. Our first week long friends trip with 3 couples and first time to this resort. First the good, the resort is beautiful. Well maintained and kept very clean. We were impressed. Rooms were well appointed and nicely updated. Plenty to do especially with Breathless next door for extra dinning and evening shows. The food was mostly good especially for an all-inclusive. We had some great meals. The bad, some of the staff particularly at the premier pool, were not very friendly. Namely the actual bartenders. It wasn't easy to get premium liquor. When we asked, they acted put off. We all experienced this. And we paid for the upgrade. The pool was beautiful, but we didn't enjoy the service. The great. the bartender, Ronny at the premier lobby bar. He couldn't have been more friendly. We made special trips to get our drinks from him. He is a gem and should definitely be recognized. All in all, we had a great vacation and enjoyed the resort.

Stayed at Dreams Onyx May 23-30. Preferred club swim up king room. Resort is beautiful as are the people we were there for a wedding on May 27. Staff cannot do enough for you they really do try and make this the best experience ever. Stand outs for us were Juan at the preferred breakfast restaurant. Victor and Yael who made our eggs and waffles every morning. Also Vida the towel girl and Dennis and Cinnamon for keeping us entertained all week. We eat at all restaurants and they were excellent no reservations needed only for hibachi to sit at the show table. We eat at 630 every night so we did beat the rush that happens between 7-8. Pools are great we used them all. Water park is fun only tried one morning because it is rammed with people all afternoon and very loud with music starting at 10 am. Preferred pools is quiet and relaxing and main pool was entertaining with volleyball and basketball and various other things going on all day. Beach is amazing as always weeds cleaned all day long and waves are so much fun. Grab a boogie board and rip a few waves if you get the chance. Only downside to being on the beach is the constant flow of venders who are selling everything and anything. One vender specifically got very aggressive with me after days of saying “ No Thanks “he was selling cigars which I do not smoke anyway really made me feel uncomfortable. Besides that beach was great. Travellers be aware that if you upgrade to preferred swim up they will put you in a room facing construction that is literally 30 feet from your room oh and it starts the banging at 7 am and continues so loud right till 8pm at night totally unacceptable and such a shame on Hyatts part to place customers paying a $750 per person premium per week to have this for a room view. Don’t hesitate to book this resort and do not follow weather forecast because it changes by the minute. If you are to upgrade do lots of research to find out everything you are able to use and where it is on the resort as it will definitely enhance your experience. Bring extra sunscreen with high SPF and lots of $1 US bills for tips. Happy travels!
