I travelled to Mauritius for business in both Feb and March 2020, staying at Villa Anakao for 5 nights and 3 nights respectively. This is an excellent option if you are looking for a quiet, laid back retreat away from the flashy resorts and built-up areas such as Port Louis. As mentioned in previous reviews, staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one. The food is excellent, home-cooked Mauritian dishes each night served outside in a covered eating area by the pool. Breakfast is also good, with eggs cooked to order and fresh fruit. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. As a business traveller I was away for most of the day but it was great to come back in the evening, sit on the verandah with a couple of beers and enjoy a traditional Mauritian dinner each night. For those on holiday, the pool area is simple but clean and well-maintained, and there is a beach a couple of minutes’ walk away. Just to note, I would highly recommend hiring a car if staying here - there aren’t really any shops or restaurants within walking distance and although public buses are frequent, you will have a lot more freedom with a car. Driving in Mauritius is easy, hiring a car is inexpensive and there is secure parking on the premises.

The guess told me the room in bad condition, the cupboard and toilet which they came 3 times to fix, door din work properly and luckily manage to move to others room. However I got mixed up with the booking date n trip.com managed to help me settle without extra fee via live chat. I don't recommend the hotel, the swimming pools both are dirty lots of insects in the water, the jacuzzi cold water n dirty too. One can hear lots of noises at night if you are lucky you won't get those rooms it looks like mauritians who get those noisy room as at night you can hear the noise of air con or pump water machine. If you take some dried grapes after breakfast to eat in the terrace you will be told not to take where as I have seen other guests took plate of food. They don't give tea or coffee in the bedrooms but just kettle n cups. The only good thing is the room is clean but they won't clean it everyday. They put very few food for breakfast one can count 15 pieces on the plate and when finished they will replenished it. I didn't feel comfortable during my stay as while I eat my breakfast I can feel them monitoring me. The pictures of the pools have deceived me and my family. More customer service are needed in this place too. The only person who helped me was sanjeev for lifting my luggage when I came to the rooms. I did ask if they serve food at night they said no but I saw guests eating at night and every night I have to take my parents to eat in restaurants which is far from the beach. They do give shuttle car but on some hours and I had to take taxi sometimes.

During this trip to Mauritius, I stayed in a total of 5 hotels, including the popular Prince Hotel and LUX Hotel Mont Monas, but the one with the best overall experience was the cheapest. I booked room for 2 adults and 1 kid 10 years old and right from day 1 hotel staff said kid can not stay in superior room.i was given room saying I will be told if any extra payment is required but no one told anything untill chkout when I was asked to pay MUR 3000 extra for kid stay while I did not ask for extra bed or brkfast for kid bcoz as per booking voucher same was not applicable.when I refused to make extra payment I was threatened of police action as if I am a thief.this is not the way customer should b treated.also seems there was communication gap on part of trip.com to pass on booking requirements.
