I travelled to Mauritius for business in both Feb and March 2020, staying at Villa Anakao for 5 nights and 3 nights respectively. This is an excellent option if you are looking for a quiet, laid back retreat away from the flashy resorts and built-up areas such as Port Louis. As mentioned in previous reviews, staff are really friendly and go out of their way to make your stay an enjoyable one. The food is excellent, home-cooked Mauritian dishes each night served outside in a covered eating area by the pool. Breakfast is also good, with eggs cooked to order and fresh fruit. The rooms are spacious, spotlessly clean, tastefully decorated and have everything you need for a pleasant stay. As a business traveller I was away for most of the day but it was great to come back in the evening, sit on the verandah with a couple of beers and enjoy a traditional Mauritian dinner each night. For those on holiday, the pool area is simple but clean and well-maintained, and there is a beach a couple of minutes’ walk away. Just to note, I would highly recommend hiring a car if staying here - there aren’t really any shops or restaurants within walking distance and although public buses are frequent, you will have a lot more freedom with a car. Driving in Mauritius is easy, hiring a car is inexpensive and there is secure parking on the premises.

The guess told me the room in bad condition, the cupboard and toilet which they came 3 times to fix, door din work properly and luckily manage to move to others room. I don't recommend the hotel, the swimming pools both are dirty lots of insects in the water, the jacuzzi cold water n dirty too. One can hear lots of noises at night if you are lucky you won't get those rooms it looks like mauritians who get those noisy room as at night you can hear the noise of air con or pump water machine. If you take some dried grapes after breakfast to eat in the terrace you will be told not to take where as I have seen other guests took plate of food. They don't give tea or coffee in the bedrooms but just kettle n cups. The only good thing is the room is clean but they won't clean it everyday. They put very few food for breakfast one can count 15 pieces on the plate and when finished they will replenished it. I didn't feel comfortable during my stay as while I eat my breakfast I can feel them monitoring me. The pictures of the pools have deceived me and my family. More customer service are needed in this place too. The only person who helped me was sanjeev for lifting my luggage when I came to the rooms. I did ask if they serve food at night they said no but I saw guests eating at night and every night I have to take my parents to eat in restaurants which is far from the beach. They do give shuttle car but on some hours and I had to take taxi sometimes.

During this trip to Mauritius, I stayed in a total of 5 hotels, including the popular Prince Hotel and LUX Hotel Mont Monas, but the one with the best overall experience was the cheapest. Of course, its hardware facilities are not comparable to the first two. Compare. The hotel restaurant’s resident kittens are a big part of this. I hope the hotel can treat these kittens well.

If we were assigned to a slightly farther room, it would actually take several minutes to walk, but they should have a battery car pick-up service (we used a battery car to deliver our luggage on the first day we came). The hotel's greenery and swimming pool are good, not to mention the beach, which is really pleasant. Third, the room is quite satisfactory. If you are used to staying in a domestic five-star hotel, you may not be able to adapt to it. After all, the facilities and decorations in China are really excellent now. The hotel does not provide toothbrushes, and the drinks in the mini bar are charged. The shower is a bit lacking in water and a bit hot and cold. Fourth, for meals, we booked HB, because I booked this hotel half a year in advance, so the price-performance ratio is good. I had a lovely stay at the Veranda Tamarin - the resort, decor, facilities and layout exceeded my expectations. The all inclusive package was very good value for money although it would have been better if there was a wrist band which signified to staff that guests were all inclusive so that we didn't have to continually sign for every drink. At weekends the music and partying from the beach was loud as the property is very nearby and obviously the resort can't control the volume of this however the bar music was also loud and could maybe have stopped at midnight rather than 2am. The restaurant and bar staff were all very friendly and helpful. On the all inclusive package you were able to eat with a subsidy in the a la carte restaurant which was good and you also got money off trips booked through the hotel which was also good value. The spa treatment (massage) I had was disappointing and also overpriced in my view.
