Hotel Manoir Victoria

Very nice breakfast...no parking for trucks

The location was super. The beds are very comfortable, and the room, while a tad on the small side was perfectly adequate. Shower was good (even if it took a little getting used to). We did not use the breakfast room so no comment. We did use the restaurant attached to the hotel for dinner one evening and it was really very very good, with great service. Downsides were a big stairs to get in and out of hotel, and the fact that there was no bar to have a drink in the evening. The lounge was comfortable but a little soulless. The only real quibble was we had a deposit of $200 taken at checkin. We spent $250 on dinner and when we came to checkout I asked to pay the balance and the receptionist said that was what she was doing. But what they did was charge another $250 to the same credit card. We only realised what they had done immediately after the transaction. We had asked for the balance ($50} to be charged. So we are still waiting for the credit card to be refunded the original $200. As it was a prepaid currency card we willlikely be home before we get our refund and end up with $200 we could have used in Canada. Moral of the story - either use another credit card to settle the balance (so you can see exactly what the charge is) or alternatively ask the receptionist to specify what the balance is before charging anything.

The Hotel Manoir Victoria is an excellent, comfortable, welcoming and well-managed hotel perfectly located next to Rue St.Pierre. Many excellent restauarant and pub choices in easy walking distance. Short walk from the train station, though the walk is fairly steep uphill to the hotel. However the steepest parts of the walk have secure metal railings on the buildings or walls alo g the sidewlaks.

Absolutely fabulous: great location, steps away from phenomenal bars and restaurants, immaculately clean and new, staff are super kind and helpful. Everyone thinks of staying at the castle when visiting Quebec City (which is a must-see) but I highly recommend Manoir Victoria for a much more personalized experience.
