Sofitel Queenstown - Hotel & Spa

This classic French hotel is truly excellent. The location is superb, directly across the street from the famous Big Face Burger, and you can walk straight to the lake. The balcony offers a direct view of the skyline. The room is very spacious and well-equipped. The service was attentive and very warm; they even packed us breakfast because we had an early start. Such thoughtful service!

We arrived at the hotel after 3 PM (more than an hour past the normal check-in time), and our room still wasn't ready. They kept us waiting. They offered to send drinks to us at the hotel bar while we waited, so we ordered a beer and a cocktail. Twenty minutes later, the drinks still hadn't arrived (does it really take that long to pour a beer, especially in a nearly empty bar?). In the end, our room was ready, but the drinks never showed up. The front desk staff seemed confused; when we checked out, they first said Alipay was accepted, then said it wasn't (even though I could see the Alipay logo on the POS machine). They also had a strong accent, which made it difficult to understand them. I wouldn't expect this at a hotel of this caliber. Overall, I felt the staff wasn't adequately trained. I won't be coming back. Oh, and by the way, there's no free parking at the hotel; valet parking costs $50 a night. :)

Extremely convenient location! The cable car and post bus stops are both within a 5-minute walk, and there are plenty of dining options nearby. I'd definitely come back again.

The hotel room was a decent size and the location was good, right in the town center. The decor was an old-fashioned European style, with a dark red and black color scheme. The breakfast was quite average, with limited variety and not many options. Even though they offer made-to-order dishes, you can only order one. We stayed during the Chinese New Year period, and the room cost around 6000 RMB, which felt like it would normally be 2000-3000 RMB. The luggage service was alright.

The room was clean and tidy, bright and spacious, and the service was excellent.
