Beautiful location and for the most part the service was great. First the pluses ....beach is super and the staff down by the beach was friendly and welcoming and they do a great job of creating safety (lots of lifeguard drills it appeared!) and overall the sense of a lovely vacation feel. There are golf carts to take you everywhere on the property, which is pretty necessary as the property is steep and quite spread out. You just give a call and someone shows up in minutes. Many of the drivers have a great personality, just made it surprising when a few of them seemed not friendly--and for us there was no need to speak English--I was always happy to try my Spanish! Ditto for the staff in the main restaurant--some were friendly and welcoming and a few others were all business and not very welcoming or patient. On with the plus items...the beds are very comfortable, rooms are private and quiet, and the policy of free mini bar snacks (with free restocking) is wonderful! The monkeys and iguanas --and sloths--on the property are terrific. There is a dinner in the beach restaurant on Wednesdays, Sats and Suns and since we were only there for the Wed dinner, I wish that the staff at breakfast had reminded us of it and also, there could be a small guide in the room that would include the beach dinner evening schedule as well as a map of the nature trail --with distances. We wanted to walk it ourselves, without their guide, but didn't have a good sense of the overall length of the trail. There was a little sense that they wanted to encourage us to sign up for their guided (for a fee) walk. The food in the main restaurant was good, but not exceptional and the dinners are quite expensive. The breakfast has many choices and again, it's good but not exceptional--but nice that it's included in the room price. Overall, however, it's a lovely place, clearly the nicest place to stay in Manuel Antonio, but also quite pricey, which you know if you're reading this! Trip.com had the best price by far, at least for November.

For our 35th anniversary we were looking for a special combo of comfort and activity. Costa Rica is hot and Arenas Del Mar was the perfect location. Our room overlooked the Pacific Ocean and had its own private hot tub. There are 2 pools and a private beach all with food & drink service. The food was outstanding, as was the friendly staff who knew our names. The concierge booked all of our activities which included horseback riding, zip lining, sailing and a private eco tour of neighboring Manuel Antonio National Park. Great spot. Great anniversary. Highly recommend.

A beautiful designed resort nestled in a Rain Forest on Bahia Manuel Antonio. The rooms are spacious with beautiful beach terraces on the cliff above two separate coves. But what makes this resort, Is the Staff: Friendly and professional. The attendants made you feel special: recognizing us and knowing our names. The location of the resort allowed you to explore the area easily (including fishing sport, Zip lining, whitewater rafting, access to the national parks). The resort is nestled in a rain forest, so monkeys, sloughs, and Macaw are sighted on the property. The property uses sustainability practices to maintain the forest land. For all the above reasons, Arenas Del Mar was a Magical place place to holiday. We will return!!!!

The resort was beautiful, quiet and clean, and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. You will see monkeys and sloths. The staff will point them out to you as well. Most of the community does speak English and do take dollars without difficulty. The restaurants on the resort are pricey, we tried Agua Azul close by and it was delicious and reasonable, Emil’s Cafe was also great but also a little more pricey. Taking a taxi to the local restaurants in Manuel Antonio is about $10 each way, into the manual. Antonio Park is $12 each way. We initially use the resort transportation when we arrived to take us from the Quapos airport to the resort which was around $68. I asked the resort multiple times how much transportation would be via taxi and they avoided this question. On the way back, we decided to take a red taxi and it was only $25. The resort was helpful when asking how much to taxi would be to other places, although not to the airport. Adorable tourist shops in the area although very overpriced so do negotiate. We did multiple tours that we booked on our own. I would definitely recommend a guide for the manual Antonio Park. We did a volunteer for a day with Kids Saving the Rainforest and you will see more animals up close. Also loved the Night walk Rainmaker tour and horseback to beautiful waterfalls. Transportation to the Waterfall was $140 and tix $160 for two, but lovely. Bring any meds you might need pharmacy charged $80 for a $20 medication, ouch

The hotel is conveniently situated on a private beach and provides golf carts to ferry guests from the lower level rooms to the main reception and restaurant area. This was particularly appreciated being an older guest. The staff were very friendly and any problems were speedily dealt with. The use of the minibar was complimentary and refilled daily.a

We had a fantastic stay at Arenas Del Mar. What a beautiful hotel. From the amazing, huge, guest room with a perfect balcony view of the private beach and swimming pool, to the wonderful staff, all of whom are so friendly and helpful for anything we needed. Our stay was wonderful and if we are back in Manuel Antonio, we won't hesitate to book here again.

Everything was perfect at Arenas Del Mar. The staff went above and beyond to make our stay the best it could possibly be. Everyone was lovely, but special shout-out to manager Derian for making our trip easy when we requested another room, and staff member Ferlan for being the most friendly, happy person we met on our 2 week trip. The food was spectacular. I'd done so much research on where to eat in the area but we hardly left the hotel. SO good. The breakfast that's included is a la carte and phenomenal. The snacks and drinks in your room are complimentary and refilled every day, and you can request more at any time. The fitness room is small but has everything you need, and the private beach was perfect and beachside service wonderful. We had 2+ hour spa treatments and they were amazing (Veronica and our other masseuse were both amazing). Small little touches like this really put Arenas Del Mar ahead of the reast. On the room change: were initially in 701a, which was on the 1st floor without the sweeping views we expected, and had minimal privacy (you can see right into the bedroom from the common lobby area and the patio is in full view from the pool lounge chairs) and requested to move given the Ocean View Premium Suite is advertised as 2nd or 3rd floor (which by default, has more privacy as it's not on ground level). We were moved to 302a which was perfect and exactly what we expected. I was worried it would rain a lot on our trip but the weather was lovely. One evening/night it rained a lot and we chilled in our patio jacuzzi while watching a thunderstorm over the ocean. Super special. We had a night hike with Julian which was lovely, it was lightly raining but we saw so much, including a porcupine! We were so sad to leave Arenas Del Mar and 100% will be back. Best part of our trip to CR!
