Karahe Beach Hotel

Nice hotel

I love Karahe, i always go with my family and my siblings love the pizza and nachos there. It is really convenient because it is right in front of the beach and they offer tables and chairs. The rooms are pretty but I think the strong point of Karahe its that his staff are super friendly and helpful.

Overall nice experience for the price. The beach area is clean with lots of chairs, umbrellas, and beach service. Our room was the villa at the top of the hill. It had a great view, but was a lot of steps that we didn’t anticipate. No one from the staff assists in taking luggage up the hill, so anyone who may struggle with a hike with all of their luggage should specifically request a room closer to the reception or beach. There were many monkey sightings which was cool at first, but sometimes they got a little too close for comfort at the breakfast area. Food was very pricey for what you’re getting, but it did taste good.

Although there is beach access, the rooms are incredibly far from the restaurant or the reception and have no phones so there is no way to get support if there are any issues without taking a hike to find someone. Our whole family fell sick when we arrived and asked for support for clean, drinking water, food, etc., and we’re just told to go to the hospital. The staff was very uncaring and unsupportive. We completely regret coming here!

Hotel is in a great location right on the beach but with many rooms across the road and up lots of steps. We upgraded to a beach side room when we arrived as the villa, although having an amazing view of the ocean, was rather dated and smelt quite damp. The pool area is lovely and open in to the evening. The restaurant is right on the beach which is great and provides lots of local wildlife from naughty monkeys to sloths. The lunch/evening menu is good and the food was really tasty, good cocktails too. However, the breakfast is poor - we actually ended up going elsewhere for breakfast after our first morning. The staff were all really great and so friendly, we had a medical situation while we were there and they went above and beyond to help and support us.

We just returned from a week at the Karahe. It is a lovely beachfront property. The bed and the pillows were overwhelmingly comfortable. The pool is lovely and the included breakfast is a bonus. The staff are all extremely helpful and professional.

As said in my review title this is nothing thrilling as a hotel, but the location is perfect as it's on the beach and really close to Manuel Antonio national park. The hotel desperately needs revamping, the breakfast is extremely basic and not as safe with all the monkeys jumping around and stealing food and the facilities as a whole need modernization. Wifi is not good, reception is not available 24/7 and at the beach, for one of the hotels to actually be located on the beach, they could do with a few more sunbeds. The restaurant which is also the place you have breakfast needs more serving options too as it's pretty basic for lunch and dinner as well as breakfast. For a beach hotel, it actually also surprised me that out of all hotels we stayed at in CR, this was the only one where they didn't change our towels or beach towels and they didn't seem to really add more handsoap, toilet paper, etc. It was just they came, cleaned, made the bed and left so I couldn't justify the tip for the cleaner, sorry. For two nights it's doable as I mentioned location was key. But if for example you are going on a honeymoon or for longer than two days, maybe you should reconsider.
