Like several other guests, I had the same experience of initially liking the place and thinking the host was perhaps just particularly harried, and then learning too late that she's an abusive and dishonest nutter. I first saw the listing on Airbnb, and sent through a booking request. There was no response. Then I found it directly, and contacted her to find out if there was a room available. She was curt and a bit all over the place, but eventually said that yes, she had a room for me. At NO POINT did she state, ”cash only.” The place was difficult to find and I called to ask how many houses it was from the main street/intersection. She was sarcastic and rude (implied it was obvious and I'm an *****). Upon arrival, though, the place looked lovely and I liked the room. When I got back from dinner later, the Aircon/A/C was not working, and I spent a sweaty, sleep-deprived night. I casually mentioned it the next morning. I hadn't wanted to bother her at that hour (and was afraid by then of having my head bitten off). So she bit off my head then and there instead. I was definitely ready to flee by then, and met her at the entrance to pay. She recoiled when I presented a credit card and YELLED at me, ”I SAID! Cash! Only!” Plus, suddenly the price had gone up from what she had quoted me on the phone. She lied about all of it. I ended up having to use the dodgy brothers' ATM at the nearby shop, and paid fees to get cash out of it. Instead of calming down in the meantime, she was even more rude to me when I returned with cash. I mentioned that I'd just lost my father, and in a tragic way, and to please be more kind. Instead of softening AT ALL and responding like a normal person with a ”I'm sorry for your loss,” she barked, ”My SON! I lost MY SON!” As I got in my car after paying, she stood on the stairs and SHRIEKED at me. The cleaner had arrived and witnessed this. AWFUL experience. p.s. read the review where she charged a guest for breaking an allegedly ”Bohemian crystal wine glass.” 1. They were cheap knock-offs, and regular glass. 2. What halfway decent proprietor in hospitality charges for a broken wine glass?!
Excellent
