Diving in the Maldives was a bucket list trip for me and my dive buddies. We did a lot of research and settled for the island of Rasdhoo and the Shallow Lagoon. Our 8 nights stay exceeded our expectations. Based on several Trip Advisor reviews we asked for the two ocean front rooms. It was a little extra, but absolutely worth it. Both rooms are spacious, clean, well equipped and have a sliding glass door facing the lagoon. It was an amazing and calming experience to watch the waves play in these crystal clear waters from my bed. These rooms are a short walk to the main building and the restaurant, but are adjacent to the dive shop, which was super convenient for our diving experience. We were not sure we wanted to dive with this dive op (Ocean dive and Watersports), because it is new, does not have a website and the Shallow Lagoon owner Mostapha did not do it justice while describing the dive op staff. We committed to one day of diving, but the experience was excellent and we ended up diving with them throughout the stay. I will do a separate review of the dive op. Shallow Lagoon staff is incredibly friendly and super helpful. The hotel manager Firaag greeted us in person at the harbor, when we arrived via the transfer boat from Male. He was friendly, easy to deal with and made efficient arrangements for everything we needed or wanted, from a sunset trip to the sand bank, to our covid testing needed to reenter US. The housekeeper Shiham kept our rooms impeccable clean. He is also an artist. When we encountered our first manta, I found a beach towel manta on my bed. Divemaster Raabe kept our dive gear well organized and never missed a beat. The cute waitresses in the restaurant were always ready with a smile and quickly learned our habits. Thanks Shallow Lagoon staff for such a memorable stay.
Very Good
