Everything is fine except the ordered dinner...it's a trap if we are not calmed enough to see the hot pot...we ordered in the expensive beef but came out was fish! We were looking forward to that special dinner which was booked in advance early in that morning. As we asked why it was not beef? Their explanations were because sort of beef therefore replaced by fish...The point is that why didn't tell us as we sat in? We paid the most expensive price for the menu but got the common fish, if we didn't voice out...the story was ended. After the complaints, they refunded @¥2000 for that costed ¥9000 expensive meal. It is a poor meal, unfresh ingredients with fare cooking method, not valuable at the description on such expensive price!

Its an Onsen hotel. The rooms are clean and spacious for us. One has to make their futons. There is a smoking room at the entrance so one might smell smoke as they enter but none else where. View was great. Front desk staff was friendly and nice.

Outstanding

Sea view + street view, the room view is very good, the bed is relatively large and comfortable. This was the first time I stayed in a hotel with a dedicated rock bath, and I enjoyed it comfortably. There is also a large hot spring bathroom, which is very nice. There is a convenience store next to it, so don't worry if you don't order food. The service attitude is very good, and a small gift of local specialties was given when checking out.

I am really grateful to Mr. Tanaka at the front desk for his kindness. The hot springs were also good.

The room we were in was huge - 2 big beds and a lounge, a huge bath and wet room. Lots of toiletries provided in the bathroom too. The heating needed to be on to 26 or 27 degrees as there was a cold draft coming from under the door and also from the cold windows. This kept the room about 22 degrees we thought. The food was dreadful and made 100 times worse as I am vegetarian... Tasteless vegetables boiled to death with very little protein offered. Breakfast was even worse and one morning I was left to have cabbage and chips as that was all there was that was vegetarian... No bread of breakfast cereal anywhere in sight. Thankfully there is a supermarket close by. It seems quite common in rural Japan to not cater for vegetarians.... so beware...

I stayed on the 6th floor with a bedrock bath. The room was large and clean, but there was a strange smell. Well, after a while your nose will get used to it and it won't bother you. The next step was to take a bath, but the hot water in the bathtub wasn't working and the shower handle was brown and slimy (I wonder when it was last cleaned).Personally, I don't like it when the water area is unsanitary. The ultimate is food. The receptionist asked me, ``Please come between what time and what time.'' I went to the dining room within that time. To my surprise, all the dishes except rice and miso soup were prepared. Keep warm things cold and cold things at room temperature. And, "Hmm? Is this a king crab?" There were tiny crabs and normal-sized hairy crabs. When I asked the staff, they said, "It's Taraba!" (Wouldn't it be that they disappear year after year because they uproot and harvest even the smallest ones?) When I made a reservation, I asked about the types of dishes, and I reserved the Matsu meal, which is in the top class of Shochikubai, but now that it is in the top class, I am curious about what kind of dish Ume is. Imagine the breakfast. That day, I firmly swore that even if I came to Rausu to see killer whales in the future, I would never stay here again.
