Celebrated my birthday lunch at the Bull at Stanford Dingley.. Service was terrible, my lamb was supposed to be rare and it was overcooked. We asked repeatedly for ketchup, mint sauce , gravy and mayo. It was a complete mess. Nobody checked if we had any allergies or did they check that the food was ok....We were rushed off our table without being told we only had a 2 hours slot. They had a christening on outside and I just don't think they could cope... this is such a shame because the food and service used to be very good. Just goes to show how things can change. We won't be recommending or visiting any time soon.

Having had a great meal at the pub previously we were excited to go back for another dinner, especially as the pub has recently come under new ownership. However, we left disappointed with both the food and the service. Both starters and mains lacked in quality and flavour, given the prices we expected something of a much higher standard but left feeling shortchanged.

Popped in for lunch knowing it’s now been under new ownership for a while. Food was piping hot and well presented. But the quality of the meat wasn’t as good as previous occasions. The service wasn’t as attentive as it used to be and staff were stood around. Not offered condiments and no one checked how food was after a couple of minutes. All these personal touches help makes the customer happy and it just lacked this. Left feeling disappointed. When we left no one said Thank you or goodbye despite us saying it. Too busy all stood around the owner’s laptop replying to an email. Can’t help but feel if the customer care side isn’t improved they’ll lose custom which is a shame as was a gem of a pub. There was only 4 tables in there which for a Saturday lunch was surprising when the pub up the road was fully booked.

I checked in on a Monday and the pub was full of people and the lights off when it says the pub is usually closed. I went to the room which was okay, I heard them turn the heating off so had an electric heater luckily but wasn’t the best. Seemed to be an event on and music was playing very loud until 12:30pm so not much sleep

Typical rural pub and restaurant and quite nice. Disappointed to discover they dont do breakfast so we only used the accommodation. Room is modern and provided the necessary things, though cleanliness was below average, large cobwebs above the bed and high level dust was scattered about when the heating eventually came on. Room was cold to begin with. Bed was comfortable though could feel the lump in the middle of joining 2 beds together. It was nice though, not likely to return.

Stunning food, fabulous, friendly service. Just the right amount of staff for customers. Nice lively buzz in the restaurant . Love this old pub, very characterful. BUT PLEASE IMPROVE XMAS DECS, they’re awful!! Looks like they have been thrown up by my old dad… found in the loft from 1980!

Lovely room, lovely pub, food good, however service is the slowest I've ever experienced. I sat down for dinner at 6.15pm and gave up waiting for someone to ask what I wanted for desert at 8.45pm. When you are a solo traveller it's a drag to sit there on your own for so long looking like a lemon. I left cash on the table and went to bed. The only other gripe I would have is that breakfast starts at 9.30am. That all said I'm sure the service was a one off, I'd stay there again and give them the benefit of the doubt.

I wrote a very honest review about a meal we had here recently with friends. Coming back to see if I had a reply I see it has been removed. I am unsure why. As the whole point of trip advisor is to be honest. I wasn't rude.. I was honest. The service was terrible. The food was amazing. If you could get back to me a out my review I would appreciate it

Adequate one night (dog friendly) stay. Our experience was not as nice as we had anticipated from the description and photos on the website. The annex rooms have an appealing rustic design and easy ground floor access. I don’t want to be picky but; -Our room was cold, and felt a bit musty and damp. It would have been improved if the heating had been turned on prior to our arrival. - The room was clean …. but there were areas of dust and cobwebs that the cleaner had missed, including cobwebs and cigarette butts in the covered entrance area. We are at the pub restaurant which was reasonable quality but overpriced, and did think that the the staff could have been a bit more switched on. For example we ordered a bottle of wine, which was bought but not opened. The village and surrounding area is beautiful.
