We love staying here on our way to and from Southern California twice a year. The hotel is a respite from the rigors of two days on I-5. Its closeness to the freeway, yet its nearness to the beautiful Sundial Bridge and adjacent trails always makes this a favorite stop. The restaurant, Twigs, is top notch as is its staff. I'm writing this review, though, because of an unpleasant and belligerent experience at check in. I kind of took in as par for the course with the service issues businesses are having these days. But then I realized I was handing them over $300 for my eight hours on their property. Not one eye looked up to acknowledge my presence as I walked up to the desk. One employee loudly proclaimed that I was not able to use the credit card with my husband's name on it, despite that account having been used to secure the reservation. It was their "policy." I understand "policies," but "policies" could be explained in a kinder, quieter tone and to only me, and not to the entire lobby. Sadly, this employee was being shadowed by a newbie. What sort of example is that? We will stay again here, but sometimes things are just wrong, and need to be addressed.
