had a great stay was on a course have nothing negative to say about our stay Also this hotel has one of the most beautiful gardens I have seen including a sunken garden which is ideal for some tranquillity at the end of a long day.

Very clean, great location for steady walk into town, nice grounds. Only saw the receptionist but she was very nice and helpful. Loads of parking spaces.

We had a very pleasant stay here for 3 nights. The room was spacious and clean. We did find the bathroom a bit tired and dated but again it was clean.
Plenty of secure parking.
We didn’t eat at the hotel at all so are unable to comment on that aspect.

Lovely room and welcoming staff. Had a very pleasant stay the only area of little concern was noise from outside the room. We could hear people in the corridors and other rooms but it wasn’t a big concern for us.

We spent 2 days doing a little touring in East Midlands and found his hotel to be a good base. Our executive double room in the Georgian Building was comfortable and clean and we slept well both nights. We ate dinner in the hotel both evenings and enjoyed good meals which were good value for money too. All the staff we encountered, reception, restaurant and room servicing were helpful and friendly. We definitely stay here again if in the area.

Quite basic but nice enough. Smallest bottles of shampoo I’ve ever seen so bring your own. Also there was a loud party in the function room with banging music until 1am which we weren’t warned about which obviously meant we didn’t get much sleep (and by the time we came back at 11.45pm it was too late to do anything about it so no use complaining), which is why we marked it down - I wouldn’t stay again but only for that reason. It’s an old building with single glazed windows but the rooms facing the function room should really be for function guests only and at the very least guests should be warned about the noise.

I was given a gift voucher for afternoon tea with prosecco here as a present from my daughter and went with my partner. We arrived early but this was no problem for them and we were shown to a nice corner table in the orangery. The waitress brought a good sized pot of coffee for my partner and a pot of herbal tea for me before bringing the food. My partner was impressed with the coffee which he said was very good. We were brought a nice selection of sandwiches, there was also sausage rolls and scotch eggs - all very fresh and extremely tasty. There was plenty of clotted cream and jam for the scones and the cakes were a delight, we struggled to eat it all. The voucher included a small bottle of prosecco which we drank afterwards. This Was a real treat and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff were friendly and polite. We were not rushed in any way despite the staff being busy with diners, I am not surprised it seems a popular place to eat. I thoroughly recommend the West Retford Hotel for afternoon tea. We will certainly go again.

Nice hotel, decor a little dated but clean.... friendly reception and bar staff. Stayed in a large bedroom with a double bed. Evening meal and breakfast was very good.
