Grecotel Creta Palace

I was with my daughter on vacation in Grecotel Creta Palace Luxury hotel in Rethymno, Crete. It was really great. The hotel was amazing, it had rather big territory which was very clean, beautiful and full of flowers. We lived in bungalow - garden view. It was bid and nice, there were friut, wine and flowers upon our arrival. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. The food in the main restaurant was really amazing: big variety of fish, salads, fruit, sweets etc. for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Also we visited a la carte restaurant - Barbarossa fish restaurant. There was interesting serving of dishes which were very tasty. The beach was very big and clean,the sunbeds were rather new and comfortable. The water in the sea was clean and very warm although the bottom was in stones. So we bought special sleepers for swimming (there were some shops on the territory of the hotel, it was very convenient if you needed something)). Also there was a storm on the sea for several days and we could not swim there. We went to the swimming pool which was big and had warm water. There were also in the hotel kids club, spa, gym, bars, other restaurants (sushi and steak, roof restaurant with signature coctails), evening shows, live music every night, tennis court and many other sport activities during the day. I would like to note and thank all personnel of the hotel who was very professional, friendly and helpful, especially Anna, Katerina and Argiro for such an unforgattable time we spent there! So if you need calm and luxurious vacation you can choose this hotel and will be fully satisfied!

The stay at this hotel was absolutely amazing. We spent a wonderful week here; the accommodation was luxurious, the food truly excellent with a huge selection of fruits, salads, meats, seafood, and great desserts. The staff took perfect care of us during our stay, and I must especially highlight the manager, Ilias, who welcomed us upon arrival and treated us like good friends. He arranged a birthday surprise for my husband and often checked if we were satisfied with everything. Dinner at the à la carte restaurant was a real experience, ending with a birthday cake and best wishes from the staff. Every evening there was live music, always different performers, making sitting in the warm evening with a drink even more enjoyable. The beach service was also excellent, with constantly clean towels and drinks delivered from the bar to our sunbeds. I would only recommend water shoes as the sandy beach transitions to pebbles.

Lifeguard on the beach are to timid and beach s closed for swimming alll the time. If you like to swim start at 8:00.

Having just arrived home we cant wait to go back to Grecotel Creta Palace. An expeience quite unique, in that a 5* hotel that has all the polish and flare you'd expect for a 5* and yet manages to cater better for the kiddies than any other I have been to. On an evening the layout of the hotel lends it's self to an adult experience around the main pool / hotel area with musical quartets etc, and yet a stroll away to the ampitheatre there a "family" disco followed by professional dancers or fire eaters etc. each night and was a hit for the whole family. This area then leads on to the more family orientated area - almost a villagee in it's self, with shops and kids club. The bugalows are great for families and well appointed all looking in keeping with the local achitecture. The bungalows either have a terrace or balcony and come with coffee making facilities and fridge. We had a nice bottle of complemntary wine chilling when we arrived. Also because it was so late (early) 1.30am by now, there was a lovely fresh salad meal and soft drinks on the table waiting for us in the second room. So impressive! Our impression on arriving in the small hours or the morning was of style and service. Such elegance and beautiful surroundings equalled only by the impressive friendly professional service of the staff. Our bags dissappeared off to our room whilst we were seated with an elegantly served refreshing drink, at the same time our passports werebeing processed by the ever smiling staff at reception. This is after 1am remember! It was a feature of the hotel how the effecient use of the army of staff made meal times in particular work so well. All had time for us including the children and nothing was too much trouble. The food was plentiful and varied, the main resturant in good weather was out side and in, and at peak times although busy, coped well. I did hear one lady complain saying she shouldnt have to queue, but the resturant wasnt actually open, but a few of us had got there early. I wanted to point out to her there were a number of a la carte returants in the hotel if she didnt belive in queueing, but the much more dipolmatic staff dealt with it so well. Talking of which, we didn't use the a la carte resturants, primarily because the main resturant gave such variety for the children it was a safer bet. If it had been just me and my wife we would have definately tried them, they looked outstanding. Incidentally the kiddies all have lunch for free, which made us pleased we went half board. Also if your chidren were in the kids club, which is also free, they would take them for lunch and our children loved the kids club and repeatedly requested to go, which says a lot. The pool areas and proximity to the beach were all amazing. There was a little bit of towel wars with some of the sun beds, but that seemed to improve later in the week. Review: I was deeply disappointed with my recent stay at this hotel. One evening, there was an announcement about a circus event. When we attended, Russian music was playing, and ladies were dancing with children to the song "Kolesiki." As a Ukrainian guest, this was extremely hurtful. Despite my protest, they continued with another Russian song, "U menya est detskaya mechta." To make matters worse, the hotel seemed to cater heavily to Russian guests, with many signs in Russian, which I found disrespectful and disgusting. I expected a more inclusive and considerate environment, but my experience was quite the opposite. This is not a place I would recommend, especially for Ukrainian guests.

If you are looking for something interesting in Rethymno, check out this place Zeus+Amalthia Sky Bar, they are trying to do it differently... especially the service from Irini, Evangelia and Alexandra! Especially at sunset, good views of the sea! Don't miss this!
