Grecotel Plaza Beach House

We stayed in a room on the ground floor looking out to sea. The room was slightly strange, it was like a self contained flat. Had some stairs to a bedroom and a bed by the door downstairs. We chose to sleep downstairs mainly for ease of bathroom but also sockets were placed on some very strange locations and none were by the beds. Some days it was cleaned well and others not so. Shower was nowhere near shower screen so was a little pointless. It was very noisy as hotel is on busy road and despite blinds, the light shone through the door. It has a tiny pool for children that is not far from road, one pool at front and another two at back but in shade. It is a 15/20 walk from the town, which is nice to wander around. We hired a car and drove round the island to see much prettier villages especially in the south. The one excellent thing was the staff, always friendly and cheerful, especially those on reception.

I felt very safe from the moment of my arrival. The cool welcome drink was just what I needed after a three hour flight. When I mentioned how tired I am the kind young man and the nice girl at the reception made the check in process easy and quick so I could quickly go to rest! The room was as described and they had already placed what I requested in the room (bathrobe and slippers) before my arrival. All the hotel employees have an air of joy and politeness. The breakfast was rich and delicious. We enjoyed the sun by the pool and walked every afternoon to the city center. I needed this break and the choice of the hotel was the best. A sense of professionalism and relaxation prevails. They had solutions for all issues! They are amazing! We will be back in three months again!

The photos are deceptive. Don’t be fooled. Yes, near the beach but 3 miles from old town and on a busy street. No decent restaurants close. We cancelled as soon as we arrived and we’re still billed for an extra night. Place was empty.

Great location, Nice hotel. Spacious and clean rooms, 5star service! There are not enough words to describe the staff! Professionals, friendly,and very warm people ! Looking forward to our next visit!

We spent two wonderful weeks at "Grecotel The Plaza Beach House" from mid to late October. An absolute highlight of the hotel is definitely the staff. From the Front Office Manager to Housekeeping, everyone was always friendly, multilingual, and constantly striving to fulfill our wishes. The breakfast buffet was plentiful and offered local dishes, making the start to the day a delight. Although we often dined at local restaurants in town in the evenings, the options at the hotel were always tempting. The apar**ent we stayed in (Apar**ent 17) was clean and well-maintained. However, it should be mentioned that the construction here reflects the Southern European charm and not German precision – for us, that was just right. A special feature of this hotel is its proximity to the beach. Even though one has to cross a road to get to the beach, we found the local traffic to be very respectful and accommodating. This point was viewed critically in some reviews, as it is not explicitly mentioned in the hotel brochures. For us, however, this was not an issue. In summary, "Grecotel The Plaza Beach House" was exactly the place for the relaxing beach vacation we were looking for. We are full of praise for the hotel and are already planning our next stay in Crete. A big thank you to the entire hotel team for this unforgettable vacation! Wir verbrachten zwei wundervolle Wochen im „Grecotel The Plaza Beach House“ von Mitte bis Ende Oktober. Eines der ersten Dinge, die uns auffielen, war die Nähe zum Strand – auch wenn man eine Straße überqueren muss, um dorthin zu gelangen. Ich hatte in einigen Bewertungen gelesen, dass dies von Gästen kritisiert wurde, da es in den Hotelprospekten und Bildern nicht ersichtlich ist. Wir hingegen fanden die griechischen Verkehrsteilnehmer überaus höflich; sie ließen uns stets über die Straße gehen und passten gut auf. Ein weiteres Highlight des Hotels ist definitiv das Personal. Von der Front Office Managerin bis zum Housekeeping war jeder immer freundlich, mehrsprachig und immer bemüht, unsere Wünsche zu erfüllen. Das Frühstücksbuffet war reichhaltig und bot landestypische Speisen, weshalb es uns jeden Morgen eine Freude war. Abends haben wir die lokale Küche in verschiedenen Restaurants der Stadt genossen, daher können wir zum Abendbuffet im Hotel nichts sagen. Das Apar**ent, in dem wir untergebracht waren (Apar**ent 17), war sauber und ordentlich. Natürlich sollte man beachten, dass die Bauweise und Bauausführung hier eine südeuropäische Leichtigkeit ausstrahlt und nicht die deutsche Präzision wiedergibt – für uns war das aber kein Problem. Zusammenfassend war unser Aufenthalt im „Grecotel The Plaza Beach House“ genau der Bade- und Strandurlaub, den wir uns vorgestellt hatten und den wir auch dringend benötigten. Wir können dieses Hotel ohne Vorbehalte weiterempfehlen und planen bereits unseren nächsten Aufenthalt auf Kreta. Ein großes Dankeschön an das gesamte Hotelteam für diesen unvergesslichen Urlaub!

The Staff was very friendly and very welcoming. Rooms are also a nice size. The breakfast buffet also has a great spread every morning!
