I didn't make a personal reservation, but I didn't receive an email from the owner saying self-check-in, so another guest opened the door and I went in after talking to the owner on the phone. You have to open the part with the room number and enter the password for each room to get the key and leave it inside when checking out. The entrance is not the stairwell in front when you come in, but the second floor of the stairs next to it, and the ba*****t luggage storage room has to go to the back of the building, not the side.
It was nice that it was close to the city center and museums.

This is perfect for one night or a couple nights. Was clean, had everything we needed. Didn’t see any staff but we had excellent instructions so was no problem. The room itself is quite small but was perfect for one night. Would absolutely stay here again

Really lovely! I was traveling with my father, and the folks running the guesthouse brought him extra pillows, because he needs to sleep mostly upright. Then, when there was a cancellation, they offered us the extra room so that he and I could each be more comfortable. We're so grateful for the kindness and hospitality. The rooms are clean, bright, and warm. We used the shared kitchen every morning. Shared bathrooms were never an issue - there are three on the main floor. Rooms also have a small sink, and there are coffee and tea makings in the rooms as well. A quick 5 minute walk to the harbor, a 20-30 minute walk to the downtown area near the big church, and a 10-15 minute walk to the nearest pool with thermal baths. I'd love to go back, and I'd definitely recommend it!

Perfect location and cozy, scandinavian style. Would spend there even a month:) Helpful stuff. I think this was the cleanest guesthouse from all of I was visiting in Iceland! You will see gorgeous Reykjavik church from your window :)

We had a little trouble with check in because we booked through ******* but we were able to get it sorted. Everything else is great. Perfect little home-base for our Reykjavík visit. Highly recommend. Bathroom is very clean, very walkable to downtown.

Quirky but cozy house. We had room 10, which was the entire top floor, basically an attic with a pitched ceiling. There is a door to a stairway leading to the attic. The threshold was somewhat annoying as the bottom step is not very deep and has a ***** of wood that has to be tiptoed over or uncomfortably stepped upon. The room had 2 couches; 2 club chairs; a table with 2 folding chairs; and a kitchenette with a sink, mini fridge, electric kettle, and French press. Tea bags and ground coffee were provided. Plenty of electric outlets. Overall, it was pleasant and spacious, but I would not recommend it for very tall people with big feet.
