This is a small hotel located outside the capital of Iceland. The only advantage is that there is a cheap pig supermarket next to the hotel. It is convenient for shopping and the room is small. It is not recommended. The sheets are not changed. Reykjavik should live in the city center, dining is convenient, Vietnam 🇻🇳 restaurants are many.

The staff of the Hostel are very responsible to solve problems for the guests. There are washing machines and dryers, and the charges are reasonable. ISK2000 is cheaper than some hostels, but the location is a bit far away from the city, and it may be inconvenient for those without a car. There is a very comfortable common area. There is also a hairdryer in the common area, so you don't have to worry about making noise to other guests at night.

6.7 kilometers from the city center, a bit far. There are no attractions nearby. In the morning, the airport is too early for 4:00. Flybus can't pick up the hotel. You have to spend more than 3,600 Icelandic krona to fly to the Flybus terminal and transfer to Flybus to the airport. The breakfast was good, but the early departures were not willing to provide breakfast. If you want to bring breakfast out of the hotel early, you will be asked to pay extra. The original paid breakfast fee is not refundable.

201 Hotel staff were very nice and allowed us to check in early. The rooms were comfortable with no extra frills. It was a great hotel, close by bus stops, to call home base while we were exploring Iceland. The breakfast was simple but filling: croissants, toast, cereal, etc. My only complaint is about the other travelers. There is a cart to bus your breakfast dishes…which means throw away your trash, scrape off your plate and put your dirty silverware in the basket. A lot of travelers did not do this and to us, that’s inconsiderate of the staff. So, if you’re reading this…please bus your dishes.

This hostel has a practical and functional location only. The only reason to stay here is for it’s convenient pickup and drop off stop for tours and the airport. The room was a 4 bed dorm and was stark. Located opposite the kitchen and above the main entrance meant it was quite noisy too. The bunks are very, very basic. There aren’t charging points at each bed in this particular dorm (3) and the blanket provided is a decorative throw. The cleaning left a lot to be desired. Regularly had to ask reception for hand soap in the toilet, paper towels and toilet paper. The Wi-Fi is non-existent and the reception staff are totally ambivalent; they are pleasant but absolutely no desire to help. Plausible deniability comes to mind. You only stay here for the location that allows you access to all that Iceland has to offer.

The Alda Hotel had great online reviews which was why we picked it. It lived up to every one of them. Before leaving home, we had cancelled a 10-hour South Shore Small Group Tour due to a horrible weather forecast. We inquired at Alda's front desk about another tour to replace it. Not only did Olga research for us, she found an 8-hour Golden Circle Small Group Tour, booked it for us and also was able to change the day of our pre-booked Covid-19 antigen test. The hotel loaned us a converter when I found ours could not fit into the room’s recessed outlets. Finally, when I needed glue for my hiking boot, Olga found a nearby store that carried it. The breakfast buffets featured all the regular fare plus a few specialties like juice made with apple, beetroot, ginger and lemon (tart and yummy). The entire hotel staff bent over backwards to be friendly and accommodating throughout our stay. The room, though simple, was spacious and comfy. We could not have asked for a nicer, better place for a 3-nite stay.

The hotel staffs were very welcoming and hospitality. We feel really good when we arrived at the hotel and even during departure. Breakfast spread was small but great. We had a warm and nice breakkie. The room is very cosy. The bed was very soft and springy! The blanket was just nice, very warm and comfortable. How we wish we could bring home. Haha. GGuest UserI’m trying to write a balanced review … so here goes … Benefits: Location Clean rooms L’OR coffee machine … but there is a but later on …. Nice chocolate offered on check in but just slapped into my hand! 2 x bottles of water offered again just dumped into my hand no here we are complementary snacks and water on behalf of Canopy Hilton … I found this level of service not good. Set backs: Diamond member - remember a serious amount of money spent at Hilton brand hotels and extreme loyalty to the Hilton brand - No upgrade offered, but suites still Showing on Hilton app for entire stay and on booking.com Canopy Hilton might have shown the same commitment back to top tier members loyalty and in-fact a poor attitude and extremely lacking in customer service on front desk I would say 8/10 times during stay. No milk for L’OR coffee machine only creamer!! No milk for tea in room Poor bathroom amenities no shower cap, no toothbrushes, no razors etc had to ask not great! Housekeeping said they had none … asked at front desk and the Hilton colleague opened a draw full of amenities!!! Making guests go down to reception to beg instead of just providing in room!!! Demonstrates Poor customer service. Then to be told we may not have orange socks or shower caps we may have run out … surely at a top rated brand hotel there is stock take and orders are placed in a timely fashion! Not impressive from Canopy Hilton at all. No orange socks in room, but left bathrobes again poor customer service. No welcome to Canopy Hilton thank you for being a diamond member …. Again poor customer service not recognizing loyalty. No executive lounge - no drinks vouchers given to diamond members as in other Hiltons - seems mean and lacking in customer service. All in all as a diamond member felt a little let down after really looking forward to my trip especially at this brand of Hilton in a great location. Feels run by people who either haven’t been trained adequately, they have no commitment to the Hilton brand or simply just have no idea about hospitality.

GGuest UserThe hotel boasts a fantastic location in a bustling area, offering convenience for guests. The reception desk is exceptionally helpful, and the restaurant staff, particularly during breakfast, are outstanding. Wish the breakfast had more hot food variety and also better coffee options (only had filter coffee), neverthless still a great breakfast spread. The hotel comprises a modern half and an older section, but both segments provide all necessary amenities. Easy access to taxis and the nearby bus stop, which is ideal for convenient Iceland tour pick-ups. Overall, a comfortable stay with excellent service and accessibility.

GGuest UserWe visited friends in Iceland and spent 2 nights at the Holt Hotel at the start of our visit. Staff was fantastic, warm and friendly. Hotel is on the older side, but location is fantastic and it’s been well maintained. We enjoyed the unique art and older feel, but if you want sleek and modern this is not your place. The room was small compared to America, but completely functionable. Traditional breakfast especially the pastries were amazing. We have no complaints and thought we got a great deal.

TTeacher HarryLayout of room was kind of strange. The bed is on a weird platform that might be difficult to navigate for less agile people, or those who are sleepy or otherwise impaired. Bathroom was overly small. It has a kitchenette, but no microwave. The location is in the heart of the most touristy part of Reykjavik. This is the third hotel I’ve stayed in while traveling to Reykjavik. The others, both lower priced, were not afflicted with the smell of sulphur (rotten eggs) in the water. It is possible to filter this out, and a person paying the price this hotel is asking should be able to expect better quality water. If you want to be in the thick of the tourist action and don’t mind smelly water, this place is OK. Otherwise…

GGuest UserI booked four twin rooms in this guesthouse for our group of 8. All I can say is that this guesthouse is absolutely lovely and breakfast is included in the bargain price. The rooms are over three floors in the main building and are a good size. The shower on each floor is hot and powerful and the breakfast is beautiful. The location is close to Hallgrimskirkja church two streets away from the rainbow street. Parking for us was a bit of an issue as it was free. This was overcome by parking overnight for free in the pay zones at the bottom of the road and moving the car by 9am. Spaces became available when the locals left for work. A weather warning delayed us travelling North for a day but the guesthouse let us stay in our rooms for an extra night for a very good price. We had access to all of the kitchen facilities including a microwave, hob and fan oven. Couldn't fault it. Great place, location, breakfast and lovely staff. We were all in agreement that we will definitely stay here again.

GGuest UserKex… Ugh such a frustrating review to write. I really wanted to like the Kex hostel it has its good points, but overall was the worst hostel stay I have had in Iceland. I’ll give you my very detailed opinion. The Bad… -Lacking in the toilet paper department!!! We were on floor 4 there were several private bathrooms with showers and also separate locker room style bathrooms. At 7:30 AM I ran to the bathroom after finishing my business realized there was no TP! Ugh. Anyway afterwards I looked through the different open stalls with toilets. Only 3 toilets on the whole 4th floor had TP! To me having adequate TP is an essential thing. The bathrooms weren’t restocked until 10AM ish. And we aren’t even in peak tourist season. We mentioned the issue to the staff and they said “just call next time you need something” kinda hard to “just call” when you have already done your business in the bathroom and you need something to wipe with! They need to have staff check the bathrooms more frequently. -The kitchen is sad in the “equipment” department. One of the reasons we stay at hostels is to cook our own food. Maybe they are trying to push buying food from their restaurant. I get that they get a lot of traffic. But the cooking pan selection is -Terrible- nasty old pans that the thrift shop would discard. Janky handles, and interior coating mega gouged out. Don’t come here expecting to cook at least on level 4. -No way to make coffee!!! Again they probably want you to pay for their breakfast. But there is no option to make coffee. No coffee pot, machine, or way to make a filter pour over etc. Don’t bring coffee grounds expecting to make your morning brew. There was an electric kettle, but again no way to make coffee unless you brought instant. -The showers need a good bleach and scrub. The walls had black mold growing on them. Considering the fact that Kex was our most expensive hostel in Iceland (we paid 20,906 for a private double, with linens, and shared bathrooms…or $153 US) compare Kex to the Svjarborg in Stykkisholmer $90 US or Halfdan HI Hostel $63 US ( in both we had a private double & shared bath) but both were awesome and had a fully equipped kitchen with decent quality pots, options to make coffee, and plenty of toilet paper. I understand that being in the city we can expect to pay more. BUT I expect that price to include: -enough toilet paper -a means to make coffee -decent cookware. The good… -The location is great. Easy walking distance to the main shops/streets. And the ocean right across the highway. -Awesome “vibe” cool decor, lots of couches/lounge areas. -Entertaining/Social. In the evening there was group song trivia in the main area, and in another a live band. -Our room a private double with shared bathroom was large, and we slept well. (Note: I have never stayed in a “quiet” hostel so I always travel with a sleep soundtrack on my phone and a melatonin) -The staff was all polite In conclusion, I have traveled on 4 contine

GGuest UserCheck-in was pretty smooth. I was allocated the room just above the main entrance as such, it can be quite noisy whenever people get in or out of the hostel with the door slamming and some vibration felt! The bathroom and wc are fairly clean and tidy. Very cosy common area to mingle and make new friends. Kitchen has all the basic necessity. I especially like the small area right outside my room where i can have a light meal and nice view of the surroundings. Bought the unlimited bus rides ticket via the Klappid app for travel within the Reykjavik capital city and bus svc 12 is just few steps away. If time permits, you can even walk to the coastal area for sight-seeing. Overall, i am very satisfied with my 8 nights stay at Laekur hostel!

GGuest UserAfter the hotel we booked, Reykjavík Downtown Hotel, was closed due to human trafficking, we had to quickly rebook a hotel, just two weeks before our trip. We booked Hotel Aska as the price was reasonable, and it looked like a very nice hotel (yes, the photos are accurate!). There were many great things about the hotel: 1) The staff were fantastic and very helpful when we had various issues, such as our room flooding (more about that later) and panicking when our bus to the hotel didn't show up. Also, to our surprise, when we arrived at 8am, the employee working that morning was able to find an available room so we could check in immediately -- I was not expecting to be checked in until that afternoon. We really appreciated that. Five stars for the staff! 2) The rooms were clean and a reasonable size. 3) There was a fridge and a kettle in the room (but no microwave). 4) Very comfortable bed with excellent pillows, and I loved how there were two single duvets for the double bed (at home, my husband and I each sleep with our own duvet). 5) A quiet location, and an easy 20 minute walk to downtown. There's also a grocery store a block away. 6) Good WiFi Now the cons: The shower stall (at least in room 304) didn't have a shower door, and the glass wall did not extend far enough, so water would get all over the bathroom floor. Extremely poor design. On our first morning (second day) at the hotel, I took a 15 minute shower, and when I got out, the bathroom floor was flooded and there was no drain, so I was kicking as much water as I could back into the shower stall. I then opened the bathroom door and saw that our hotel room had also flooded! It was a huge hassle having to move rooms but thankfully the staff were helpful and able to move us immediately. We were moved to room 401 and the shower had a proper door that fully closed and there was no further flooding. Despite the flooding, I would give the hotel four stars, but the reason for the two stars (and it's only two stars because of the staff, or I would give it one star) is that I was not able to get a good night's sleep the entire duration of my trip (three nights). The room was too hot, and despite turning off the heat and having the windows open the entire time, it was sweltering. And in room 401, the WiFi router or something was behind the flatscreen TV, and the entire wall lit up with flashing lights from all the electronics. I had to stuff towels over the lights to try and dim them. Aska is a lovely hotel, but if you can't sleep in hot rooms with flashing lights, I would suggest elsewhere.

DDNYFOverall the hotel location and food is fine. Service is not very friendly though…. Coffee corner ran out of water, coffee and hot water. The front desk lady was quite helpful when I have enquiries.
