Beautiful and well located hotel with beach service but in need of renovations. The health security part in the worst part of Covid with a 1000% increase in cases not only of covid but of H3N2o was the worst possible. They even demanded a vaccination card at the entrance, but the control of poorly educated people, without the minimum of education, especially Argentines, was nil. Nobody said anything about them even riding in elevators without masks. Guests at the reception were not alerted by the staff because they were not wearing masks and, amazingly, countless employees at the front such as receptionists and other employees either without masks or with them protecting their chins. Bizarre! My room just hadn't been cleaned on one of the days and the carpet and curtains were FILTHY, not dirty, FILTHY indeed. Finally, they offer free parking both on Trivago, both here and by phone, as they insisted on making sure and at checkout they charged R$ 30.00 per day. It's not even for the value but for the SACANAGE itself. I do not recommend this Hotel!

What makes a 5 star hotel? Is it the bed, bathroom, the pool or food? It's the service from the hotel staff that makes you feel like you are staying with family. That is 5 star. In these times with Covid-19, quarantine stayed just under 21 days. These are the times when an outstanding hotel staff make all the different. Stronger recommend if you plan on staying in the Barra area using the Windsor Barra hotel. Regards, Richard Coyne

Hotel without infamy or praise central location in the very dirty neighborhood of Lapa....decent breakfast....single beds quite comfortable...pillows too high and with no alternative to having a lower one...short darkened curtains at 6am morning and already light... swimming pool on the top floor too small given the 13 floors of the hotel and therefore with a lot of people

I stayed in the hotel for the commitment I had because it was close. As it was one night only, I chose to book. The room was very dirty, sabble paper open in the pier, all dirty. 2 towels, 1 was acceptable and the other was completely swept and damaged. I put it on the floor because I had no courage to use it. The bed is horrible and noisy, and the dressers too. Have you seen a short shirt? Yes, it was so much to cover up to half the body and thinnerly impossible. I had nothing but that shirt to cover. Summary: I didn't sleep anything, super discomfortable. It's all about all the rooms, bad clothing. Coffee is half mouth, but in any case I've seen worse. The only positive point is that the reception official called ”D”. When we arrived at the hotel, we were surprised by the information that the system was out of the air and would take a little, then the same offered us 2 courtesy drinks for the event. The only thing I liked at the hotel, but you're only reserved in the last case if you don't want to get angry.

Hotel with many passengers and therefore very noisy, all the noise entered the room. Late check-in. The room key/card would not get the room, three times I had to go to the front desk until the key worked. The terrace and the pool are very small. It's not an ugly hotel, but...

I stayed there for five nights in January 2020, and have only good things to say about the hotel. Nice and clean room, good food in the restaurant, friendly and helpful staff (with good advices about where to go - and not to go), great location (400 meters from Copacabana beach and across the street from Cardeal Arcoverde metro station) and in a pretty busy and safe part of the city, with many shops and restaurants. Not too expensive rooms. They can also offer transport to the international airport for 25 real. That's much cheaper than taxi!

Only breakfast leaves to be desired; The coffee staff is very careless , not paying attention to restore what will end ... - Then they end up the cuttings, and they will take a long rest. Note: You have to ask - finish sugar, sweet, and you have to stay asking where it is; -Small and without enough table, and when someone lifts up, nobody will take off and clean the table, you have to call someone. Let me tell you about my stay, I went to Rio de Janeiro Brazil for 6 weeks from Sept to Oct 2020 for medical tourism.  During my trip and when I was not in the hospital having surgery I stayed at Hotel Vilamar and I'm so thankful I did.  There are so many things I could list, but I'll just list a few.  After my first surgery and I checked in, I was greeted by the Hotel manager Cecilia.  She was very kind, caring and assisted me in so many ways. She sent me to a wonderful salon to get my hair fixed after 6 days in the hospital.  If my friend (from The UK and I from The US) and I did not show up for breakfast because my face was all black & blue, or issues walking (I had 2 surgeries while there) she or her staff would call our room to see if we needed food sent up to our room. (I do not know if that's standard but to my friend and I, we felt special.)  If we ever called down to the front desk, or stopped at the desk and asked for something, the staff at Hotel Vilamar was on it, and took care of our needs.  In the morning when we would go for breakfast, the girls there would always greet us by our names and ask how we were and always asked if we needed anything. The gentlemen behind the desk were always pleasant and referred us to some great places to see that we did not know about.  One day I had to go to the pharmacy that was right next to the hotel but all the staff only spoke Portugese, Cecilia went with me to the pharmacy and helped me get everything I needed.  One day, post facial surgery I could only eat soft food and my eyes were all swollen, one of the staff members walked across the street to a gelato store and helped me get something to gelato.  The housekeeping staff was always kind and worked around me while I was recovering.   The hotel was always clean and shiny and the staff very attentive to our needs, but they were kind and treated us like family.  There is so much I could add about Cecilia and her staff, but I just want to say;  ”They not only meet our needs but they exceeded in meeting our expectation of the treatment someone staying at a hotel should receive. I have a friend who will be going to Rio very soon, I have already told them about Hotel Vilamar and she will be reaching out to them soon and I plan on returning during 2021 for another 4 to 6 weeks and I would stay at no other hotel.  I truly give them 10 stars!

Carlos my breakfast server always makes my morning start great. He is always on time and always makes sure I have everything I need. He speaks very good English. This is my second time to stay here for a week quaranteen and I have had him the majority of both visits.

We were on family holidays, I reserved a four-bed room, with a couple bed and two single beds, which was perfectly suited to us. After a strong rain we returned from a restaurant, we went up to 11th floor and this was flooded! We managed to get to the room and in a short time the water also started to get in it! I called the reception, who knew the problem already, and they told me that I could change the room, we closed the bags and went to another floor. The lift had water, which scared my children. We were directed to a triple room, with a couple bed and a single, we sleeped the first night right there ... we tightened a little. On the other day, I called the hotel's reception, who told me to talk to the hotel's govern, who said the hotel was in works and they didn't expect that rain. I said that we wouldn't have to return to our four-room ... As I had already paid on the entrance, we decided to stay. I made some claims, only one was not answered. But we don't like the way we were answered, in general. Out of this episode: Check-in and check-out ok. WI-FI is not as fast as informed. Parking was not vacant, I had to pay out in another place. Cleaning ok. Breakfast recommended, free. I didn't use room service, but it has. Good location.
