We were so lucky our children bought us a gift voucher for Christmas and we chose to use it in September for our 47th Wedding Anniversary. What a beautiful hotel newly refurbished and retaining lots of charm. With warm friendly and helpful staff especially the gentleman i the restaurant on our first night wat a lovely man. We had room 7 a twin room with a magnificent view over the bay. Although on the second floor I managed the climb as there is nobody hurrying you or in your way. We had a DBB booking and the food and choice was amazing with no limit on the full restaurant menu. Only thing I would comment on I think somebody forgot to put the lemon in the Queen of puddings custard but it was still scrummy. We loved sitting looking out of our bedroom window, even or especially when the weather was misty. On our first day the lovely weather meant we could sit on the garden terrace and enjoy the world. We would rearrange the furniture a little in our room and put in a higher socket but these were small things. We loved the gift of Whitby gin and tonic and the lovely Elemis products. Would we stay again .... in a heart beat.

The attention to detail was outstanding. The addition of a complimentary G and T was a very nice and well thought out touch, greatly appreciated. The room was very clean and had everything we needed, We had a meal there and the staff were very attentive and helpful. Delicious breakfast with lots of choice. Overall a really super stay and we are already thinking of our next trip there.

This was the hotel I was looking forward to the most, and in my 3 weeks of traveling in the UK, it sadly was the biggest letdown. I didn't get what I paid for. I booked a delux Seaview room and what I got was a small, old room with a tiny bathroom with a narrow shower stall. No luxury what so ever. The bed was hard, and it took me ages to fall asleep. I emailed the desk at 2 AM questioning my room but got no reply. In the morning I saw their much nicer rooms with tubs being cleaned. These actually had big windows where you could see the ocean. What I had were tiny box windows for peak a boo views. I went to discuss my room at reception and they said they were booked and couldn't move me. Why couldn't they put someone arriving in my room? Was it not good enough? Dining service when I first arrived was the same. Don't give the solo traveler a small table by the window. Heaven forbid. The waiter wasn't interested in me as I had to wave him back to remind him I was there. The woman who runs the breakfast was kind. She saw me laughing my suitcases from the TOP FLOOR and helped me. She served a lovely breakfast too. Thanks so much! She also helped me to arrange a taxi and I made my train in time.

I booked months ago at this hotel. I booked a delux Seaview room. I got a room at the top floor, which I will need to get my bags back down. I got an old room with tiny windows , a hard bed and a pathetic old bathroom with a tiny shower stall. I couldn't sleep last night so I emailed the desk at 2 AM questioning am I really in a delux Seaview room. The room is so small the TV is angled where it can't be viewed comfortably. Earlier, I went to dinner at their restaurant. The waiter gave me a table in the center of the room when there was a small 2 seater at the window which I asked for. He winced but gave it to me anyway. He quitened his voice to serve me so that we didn't impose on the table beside mine like we were in the library, give me a break. Then I didn't hear from him until I flagged him down. I paid my fair price like everyone else at this hotel, so why was I treated like I didn't deserve better. When I emailed them about my hard bed and questioned if I got the room I paid for I got no reply, so I went to the desk first thing in the morning and all I got is I'm surprised the room is popular with past guests. This morning when I left my room I saw lots of ocean view rroms with tubs being cleaned but they couldn't move me because they were booked. Why not give my pathetic room to your incoming guest and move me? They just don't care! It's tough luck! I won't let this hotel bring down my visit with Robinhoods Bay. I traveled far to see this.

Our first trip back to the bay in over 20 years. This hotel was quaint and an ideal stop perched at the top of the hill with magnificent views of the town below and the superb Yorkshire countryside. We had a balcony room with views that captured the magic of this special place. The staff are incredibly friendly. The food offering is superb as is the overall ambience of this place that is well run. Would highly recommend for true Yorkshire hospitality.

We were a family group of 10 that included 3 generations staying in 4 bedrooms, staying dinner, bed & breakfast and we had a wonderful stay for one night early September. From the booking process right through to departure we found the hotel delightful. The bedrooms were impeccable and stylish with lots of little touches that really enhanced the stay. We ate three meals, the first being lunch on Saturday. Excellent menu with choices for everyone. Evening meal in the restaurant which was fantastic. There was a lovely lively atmosphere, great food and lovely modern comfortable environment. Breakfast the following morning was particularly good -the only thing missing was that I would prefer a rack of toast being brought to the table rather than toasting your own. Coffee was great and fresh cafetières :) There must also be a special mention for the staff team. Every single member we encountered was friendly, welcoming and professional including reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping. We will without a doubt be back!

Just returned from a night at Hotel Victoria, what a pleasant surprise these days when a lot of hotels seem to think adequate is sufficient, a most enjoyable stay with a lovely well thought out room, nice furnishings, very clean in fact nice place to be in. The staff were all first class also particularly a very friendly and efficient lady who showed us our room. The breakfast was also spot on, good quality, well cooked and tasty food, plenty of choice too!. We both really enjoyed our 2 days in Robins Hood’s Bay and this lovely hotel. Although everyone had to make a profit, Hotel Victoria manages to provide some much appreciated touches such as a bottle of water and a gin and tonic in your room, this does work and makes you want to return which will, thank you for standing out as particularly good place to stay!

We turned up and asked if we could eat outside in the area with a sea view. We were told yes we could. After waiting over 10 mins in the sea view area for menus and to order drinks, we went inside and found a waiter. We waited another 15 mins for someone to take our order and no one came. We went inside to order and were told they were no longer serving food in that area. So we had to move to a seat near the road and with no sea view. You have to order at the bar. When I went to the bar they sent me back out to find my table number. But when the food came the waitress didn’t know the table number instead she just shouted out the order cafe stylie. When the food came my vegan burger (£15) seemed to be a frozen burger - badly cooked it was soggy and tasteless. I’m not going back, ever!!!

Lovely to be back here for a night. Beautiful room with tv, kettle, tea/coffee, staff very friendly & delicious food. We won't stay anywhere else in Robinhoods Bay. The location is perfect overlooking the bay, a steep hill but well worth it.
