You think it's a great location w/the Trevi Fountain right in front of the hotel. The first 5 minutes you are in awe and then it wears off quickly. The crowds are insane-trying to get to the hotel entrance navigating through the masses is a feat in itself. Then you have a dozen or so standing on the steps of the hotel trying to get a better look at the fountain, while juggling bags. Not fun. And this happens every time you leave or try to come back into the hotel. The hotel is old, yes. And I thought well that will make it so quaint and authentic. But it is just run-down. We had a room with a view of the Trevi which was magical, but after looking out at it the first hour, it didn't make the actual room worth the view. The bathroom was horrendous (including pics). Towel rack missing bolts, toilet seat with a huge crack on one side and mold in shower and on the walls. Not good. The upstairs breakfast area was lovely to sit and look out through the big windows. Food was mediocre at best. The staff played Rock Music loudly while you dined on your breakfast. First thing in the morning, I don't want to listen to rock music. The juxtaposition of looking out at beautiful architecture with Rock music pumped throughout the room......not fab for the senses. The staff was nice and helpful. I'm naive thinking Airport Transfer was part of the hotel service. It was a fee of 65 euros each way. The driver would not accept credit cards once we arrived at the hotel at 10:00 PM, I had him running around with me trying to keep pace to find an ATM machine. I absolutely do not recommend it. Especially for the pricing. The beauty of Rome is walking around and taking in the sights. You don't need to stay smack in the middle of the crowds. So much potential.......such a shame. The owner needs to take care of this property. The pix of cracked toilet greeted us with tissue paper when we entered the room for the first time. Black Muck is in the shower.
