CasaCau is a set of upmarket serviced apartments near the Trevi fountain. Keep in mind this isn't a hotel, there's no reception and you don't really see any other guests. Check-in is done via entering a code at the door and you get your keys from a mailbox, for example. Proprietor Pino is very friendly and on the ball before you visit, arranging a car if needed or giving you recommendations, but you don't really see him much either - in a way you feel like you're living in a very stylish BnB. The plus sides were that I wasn't really bothered during the stay, it's well located and breakfast is quietly attached to your door every morning - it's basic, so eggs/milk, croissants and bread the first day, then just the latter afterwards, but the room has coffee, jam etc in it - you might want to eat after as well. There's also a minibar of items you have to pay for. Decor is lowkey but nicely done too, the two rooms I saw (Pino moved me to a quieter one) were well laid out and stylish. You didn't hear anything in the house, so I assume some sort of soundproofing was installed, as it's an old building. Some cons were that depending on your room, the outside could be quite noisy as it's on the main thoroughfare into the Trevi area, which gets alot of visitors. I personally don't like the fountain, and during the day you'd be battling against the crowds to get into central Rome. Also, all towels were paper thin, which sounds odd but they were really hard to dry yourself with, and pillows didn't have that luxurious hotel feel - being quite thin too. The bed was comfy but, again, not like you'd get in a hotel. Overall I liked the stay and would recommend it, if you get up early you can avoid all the people, and if you're looking for more of a BnB experience, this is one of the best in Rome. If you're after a more traditional hotel, stay elsewhere.

A return visit to Rome after many years. CasaCau was the perfect base in the old city centre. Beautiful and character property furnished with great taste and attention to detail. The surrounding area is a warren of small streets with the day to day activity of Romans going about their business. There is a huge choice of restaurants to suit all budgets - This is Rome at its best !

Inside the apartment is beautiful and so elegant! We stayed on the first floor with a gorgeous bedroom, balcony and luxurious bathroom that includes a sauna! Everything about the apartment was executed with class and great care. Importantly, everything - every towel, bed sheets, furniture, everything was extremely clean and of the best quality. We felt at home and safe instantly. The apartment was dreamy! We had a wonderful 10-day stay. Pino and Zibi took the best care of us, we couldn’t have asked for more. It is my favourite holiday and I cannot wait to return next year!xx

The location was perfect for exploring Rome and Pino, the owner made us so welcome. The apartment had every home comfort. Pastries, eggs and fresh milk outside the door each morning. Luxurious bed linen, toiletries and towels. Pino recommended restaurants and was contactable whenever we needed something. We will definitely be returning and using Casa Cau as our “Roman home” for the trip.

We went to the Ryder Cup and we booked 2 rooms. From the first interaction everything was easy. The communication was open and clear and we could ask for any advice, the answers would be there. The rooms are beautifully designed. We stayed in 4 and 5. I stayed in room 4. It is beautiful. I will return to this spot. There is a reality of staying in city centre. Lots of people all the time. It is a choice. Thank you Pino. It was a great experience

This was our first family trip to Rome with four kids. We we’re looking for authenticity during our stay to feel this city more deeply. The Casa Cau was a great place to stay for six people. We booked two rooms and both offered us enough space, with own kitchen and appliances, which was convenient when you have infant and toddler in your company. The weather was extremely hot,but AC worked perfectly. Every day room service, morning breakfast with fresh eggs, croissants, milk and bread were always offered on time with care. Another important thing is that the hotel is located 150 meters from fountain Trevi and 7 minutes walk from Spanish Square. For those who are interested in shopping can find lots of interesting things in Rinascente in the neighbourhood. The owner is very nice and always eager to help with taxi, advice, as well as other staff.

We booked the two corner rooms for a trip with my parents. Great location (minutes away from Trevi Fountain and even closer to piccolo buco) and in walking distance to key attractions. Great service through WhatsApp and we were able to keep one room until 2pm to store our luggages. Would recommend on all fronts!

A short trip to Rome and multiple rooms booked in this apartment building just up the lane from Trevi. We had a moment of ‘user error’ getting into one room as the instructions were clear but the door needed a wiggle to open. The other two were fine. Clean rooms with lovely decor and character. Views stunning of adjacent street life and local bars and restaurants literally on the doorstep. We were delighted with a breakfast delivery on the door in a beautiful bag. Really nicely done. We intend to return soon.

Wonderful experience at CasaCau! I stayed for two weeks in a charming corner apartment #5 – a tastefully designed and decorated one bedroom with very high ceilings, lots of ample space, a well-equipped kitchenette, a spacious sitting area, and a lovely bathroom stocked with Le Labo products. I loved the best quality Italian linens and towels. It is a renovated 18th century building, located within walking distance from the Trevi Fountain. The location is busy, but the apartment has soundproof windows with wooden shutters. The air conditioning was superb. The breakfast bag hanging on the doorknob every morning was filled with freshly baked bread, croissant, milk and eggs.
The team was lovely. Thank you Pino and Zibi
