We had a great stay here for two nights in June after exploring Italy for a month. We stayed in room 15 which had a private terrace. The room was comfortable, well equipped with closet space, safe, and even complimentary water. The bathroom was modern. The location of the hotel was perfect for us since we didn’t have a lot of time to explore Rome before we left. Staff was great.

This hotel was the second one of our stay in Rome. The pros are - it is close to the Spanish Steps, it has a restaurant directly adjacent to it. Lots of shops around. Overall, very old Italy feel. Our view from our room was beautiful (our friend's room not so much) The staff was kind and helpful. Cons- the rooms show a lot of wear and need attention. There is ZERO noise buffer from room to room. The breakfast is equivalent to a Holiday Inn breakfast buffet. Anyone bragging about the breakfast in their reviews - I don't know how. The food (pastries etc.) is clearly out of a package and the eggs were watery. This place is on top of a large hill (hence all the steps lol) and if you cannot climb that hill every time you go somewhere, this is not the place for you! We stayed at another hotel when we arrived and while it was closer to the train station, it was clean, new, a better value and much easier walking with a truly excellent breakfast made for you individually. Everything was fresh! So, this did not even come close sadly. It was fine for our last night but we would not recommend it or stay again ourselves.

The room was ok, we were only there 2 nights. I chose this property because of its proximity to a metro stop, only to find out we had to go up the Spanish steps with our luggage after a long international flight (there are two other steps options on either side but still lots of steps). The elevators in the Metro were not working. If you don't have issues with this, it's a nice, quiet property. The breakfast room is lovely with lots of options.
As VIP hotel we were supposed to get an upgrade if available. We got the voucher for the bottle of sparkling wine (which we didn't use as we didn't have time) and the room upgrade was going from two twins room to one with a double and single bed, the view was of the building next door so not sure if that was truly an upgrade.

We spent a few days in Rome and stayed at Hotel Scalinata di Spagna! We loved it! There were four of us (two adult children), and we had one of the family rooms - two rooms - each with a bathroom and balcony. Nicely located by the Spanish Steps, everyone was friendly and helpful. They helped us source some restaurants and arranged airport pickup. Every morning, there is a large breakfast available on their terrace. I highly recommended staying here! Charming!

A tiny well run hotel at the top of the Spanish Steps - right in the middle of it all in Rome. We were greeted and quickly shown to our rooms. We booked the family room - which is one hotel door with two more doors behind it - each with its own bedroom and bathroom. One of the rooms and bathroom attached were very tiny which isn't unusual for a room in a city such as Rome. The other room and bathroom were more spacious. Both had A/C that cooled the rooms off so quickly as soon as we returned to the room(s). The rooms and bathrooms were very clean. Liked having hardwood floors in the bedrooms. We were also given fresh towels every day!!! The beds and pillows were the most comfortable we had on our trip to Italy which had included a stay in the Tuscan country side as well as a few days in Florence. The service was very quick when needed which wasn't often just for a couple minor issues. Breakfast was on the first floor in a small but neat and clean area that includes outdoor and indoor spaces. The food was plentiful and fresh. Our favorites were the fresh nectarines, fresh juices and the abundant bacon and pastries. Overall it was a wonderful stay in a beautiful city at the end of our two weeks in Italy.

Hands down the best hotel in Rome with impeccable service you won't receive anywhere else. I specifically chose this hotel due to its location. The hotel is located at the top of the Spanish steps in a beautiful piazza. It's safe, convenient and the staff is more than attentive. Several room options to choose from the main building to the annex building. I stayed in the "Panoramic Suite" and it was beautiful. Breakfast was fresh with many options on the rooftop terrace. The cleaning staff, bellman and front desk service was flawless, making the check-in and check-out process seamless. Taxi cab services and a restaurant are also readily available right outside the door. Special nod to "Daniel" and "Massimo" who were a pleasure dealing with. Last, but not least special thanks to "Fabrizio" who went above and beyond to ensure my stay was remarkable. Ciao Fabrizio, from Linda and Family!! I will only stay at this hotel when visiting Rome. Thank you Hotel Scalinata di Spagna for your incredible 5 star service!!

A beautiful hotel located near Spanish Steps. There is the main hotel near the top of the steps and an annex near the bottom of the steps. The annex has the elevator but the main does not. The Annex has no breakfast but the main does. So you need to be able to walk to the top of the steps to take advantage of the breakfast in the garden terrace. We were in the annex and the location was unrivaled for us. Room was more than perfect with balcony overlooking Piazza Di Spagna and Magninelli Square. Super great for walking to a variety of restaurants, hop on hop off busses and many well known sites. Staff always available and willing to help. While there is no staff in the annex they are a phone call away.
