Villa Agrippina Gran MELIá

Lovely hotel located in a villa near the Vatican. Top service, facilities and food. We had an amazing honeymoon. Totally recommended!

Excellent service, hotel view and breakfast. Very close to Vatican City.

The staff was so kind that I could overlook the fact that: -we had to wait at the front desk 10 minutes before the front desk person showed up to check us in. The concierge person who was so sweet, he tried his best but it simply was not his role. -that there were almost no power outlets available in the room to use unless you unplugged a lamp etc -that there is nowhere to hang your towel other next to the toilet.(Gross) -the overall design of the room, bathroom and slippery tub was not well thought out. NONE of these issues would make me deduct a star. The reason for such a bad review is because this place doesn't really have air conditioning. While it is present it does not make your room change temperature. When I called the front desk they informed me that the thermostat in my room is basically fake and that they would have to turn the temperature down on their end. I asked but nothing changed. So then I asked for a fan but they couldn't provide one because every fan was already in use, surprise! I followed up but they offered no solution. I slept without any blanket or top sheet of any kind and I was still warm all night and tossed and turned. All else can fail but if I can't rest because of noise, cleanliness or in this case being really hot then I believe you have failed. It would be laughable to call this place a five-star Calibur hotel. Other than the extremely high price point there wasn't a single thing five star about it. Perhaps it was just our room but I doubt it because we had an upgraded room. Rome is really hot in the summer. Pretending you have AC is simply cruel. -

When we arrived I was suffering jet lag. At the hotel the staff were so wonderful, they helped us with a quick check in and getting me to our room. They were so thoughtful and helpful in trying to attend to my needs. The restaurant staff were exceptional! After one day they know that I wanted my Minnie Mouse cup filled with ice. The coffee service was so lovely. The porters always greeted us with a smile and had a taxi there within minutes. The staff at check in and concierge greeted you in the morning with a cheerful bonjour. In the evening a bono Nota. We felt very safe and looked after. The pool staff were so attentive and friendly. The location is absolutely perfect!! The room was wonderful. Within distance of everything!! Highly recommended hotel, go get lost in Rome!

One of the best hotels that I have stayed in for a long time. Excellent location and very professional and helpful staff. The views from my room were spectacular. The dining experience was first class; I had breakfast, the buffet was excellent and also dined there on one occasion. The evening meal was very good with first class service.

This hotel is the perfect retreat in the middle of a busy city. Whilst lying by the beautiful pool, with the tranquil atmosphere, you completely forget where you are. The entire hotel encapsulates the feeling of the eternal city, but at the same time feels modern and luxurious. Our room was perfect - lovely views over the river and all the amenities we could wish for. Staff were incredibly helpful, friendly and made us feel very welcome. The turndown service on an evening was a lovely touch and breakfast had a wide range of options. The location is fantastic. Never a few minutes for a taxi and walking distance to the likes of Trevi Fountain (around 25 minutes). I used the spa and had a full body massage that was amazing. I would 100% choose to stay at this hotel again should I ever be back in Rome - I’ve never stayed in a more a beautiful, luxurious hotel in the middle of busy city. Thank yo, Melia, for a wonderful stay and to all of the lovely staff for making it extra special. We would love to return the future and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

An oasis ideally situated close to most of the major sites in the centre of Rome Beautiful hotel, lovely rooms, good restaurants and, above all, outstanding service from every single member of staff. I found it impossible to fault and for a hotel to have an open air pool and gardens in this location is very special. Overall, what stood out most was the superb friendliness and courtesy of all members of staff who made this into a ‘must return soon’ 5* venue. I will! Thank you to everyone.
