I am not one who writes reviews, but given how amazing our stay was, I felt it was warranted. Context: We were a family of five (including a 10 year old and two 15 year olds) visiting during peak season and also a blistering heat wave in Rome. We stayed eight nights and used Rome as a base to explore Florence, Pompeii, and the Amalfi Coast (as well as Rome itself). We really value family travel and take 2-3 trips per year together. Facility: The hotel is brand new and absolutely beautiful. It’s decorated in a very funky style but still very tasteful. Fun lounge music pumps through the common areas. The restaurant (where we had breakfast each morning) is intimate but very comfortable. And the food is top notch (we also ate dinner one night). Also, the gym is impressive with modern cardio and weight equipment. Room: We had two rooms that connected via a private corridor that we could close (so in essence connecting rooms, which are tough to find in Rome). Each room is brightly decorated and well appointed. The mini bar with sodas, juices, and snacks was included in the room price. The bathrooms are beautiful, with marble and large walk-in showers. Overall, the rooms were a good size, especially for Rome and this specific central location. Service: Even with so many positives going for it, this is where the hotel really shines. Each and every staff member got to know us and anticipated our every need. Somehow they were able to communicate with each other seamlessly across shift changes and days to provide the kind of individualized service we have not experienced at any hotel outside of Asia. They were there in the morning waiting with a bag of waters for our excursions into the heat. When some of us were late to breakfast they gave us “to-go” boxes filled with pastries and coffee. They knew we would need taxis at specific times and were out in the nearby square hailing them before we even asked. Each day when returning they asked how the specific activity had gone (they helped coordinate tours for us of the key sites and daily restaurant recommendations). And at every turn they were warm and genuine. Location: The hotel is on a busy pedestrian street that acts as the main route for people to walk from the Trevi Fountain to the Pantheon. This is important to note as it is not the most pleasant street during peak hours. That said, the moment you step into the hotel, you immediately relax due to the beautiful decor as well as the very effective sound insulation and air conditioning. Also, the proximity (read: 5-10 mins walk) to every site you will want to visit really cannot be beat. We rarely took taxis, and enjoyed how close it was to other less busy neighborhoods as well as the beautiful sites such as the Spanish Steps, Piazza del Popolo Trevi Fountain, Pantheon, Colosseum, and Roman Forum just to name a few. Overall: As a family and for our respective jobs, we travel extensively, and the Hotel Maalot stands out as
