Colosseum Corner

Excellent hotel in a great location. Very clean, comfortable bed and lovely shower etc.

One has to marvel when you can see the Colosseum from your window. That’s exactly what we had during our stay at the Colosseum Corner. Our room was the Deluxe room with a Colosseum view that had a side peek of the Colosseum, but there was also a private rooftop with a picturesque panoramic overlook of Rome where we enjoyed a bottle of wine at sunset (note: there are no tables and only two chairs there). The room was extremely quiet, clean and well-appointed with a plush feel to it. We received exceptional customer service from Rosanna and Christopher both before and during our stay. I would highly recommend booking a roundtrip airport transfer directly from them. We also appreciated their restaurant recommendations, especially Contrario Vineria con Cucina; a restaurant in walking distance that was in fact our best meal during our three-week trip to Italy. In addition, we enjoyed walking around the Colosseum at night with different vantage points that were free from crowds and made for excellent photographs. A special tip is to walk and visit the magical Basilica di San Clemente which is a “nesting doll of churches,” with its underground excavations of a Roman church and pagan temple.

Great location as directly opposite the Colosseum. You do need to use google maps to find it though as it isn’t very well sign posted. The entrance is a door down a side road and only has a tiny sign. The building looks to be a mix of apartments and B&Bs. Colosseum Corner is quite a few floors up but there is a little lift which you can use for your luggage. The staff are really friendly and were happy to let us leave our bags and come back later as we arrived quite sometime before check in. They also gave us a map and circled some places that might be of interest. The rooms were lovely and very clean. Comfy beds with complimentary toiletries and water with tea and coffee making e facilities. I was hoping for a room with a view as it was my birthday but we didn’t get one, but not the end of the world! I’d still come back!

First time travelling alone. Felt safe all the way. Airport transfers arranged by the hotel. Staff excellent. Room perfect. Safe area. Oppio Cafe downstairs do everything, even takeaway pizza if you just want to put your feet up after a busy day sightseeing. Would definitely like to return.
