Hotel Cardinal

Great location, across from the cathedral. All aspects are comfortable.

Marvelous location! Stunning sunny corner room with view of the plaza and Cathedral. (But also steel shutters if you want to sleep in.) Spotlessly clean. Lovely, reasonably priced breakfast in a very stylish, cozy breakfast room. (Note that this is an onsite, hands-on owner operated business, so there is a very personal feel, but you may need to call the number posted on the front door to be admitted. The owner made us feel like honored houseguests.) I will be back.

We liked the area, room was just ok. Good for walking around the old town

To be able to open the curtains in my room and see the famous cathedral framed by the window was an experience that can't be beat. The room was simple but very clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a nice shower and towels. The door is usually locked unless someone is actually at the desk. You will receive a PIN for the keypad so you can come and go easily. The location is fantastic, and one can walk for hours along the cobblestone streets and alleys exploring markets and shops.

Hotel Cardinal was a perfect hotel for us. It is lovingly cared for by the owner who does the cleaning herself. The rooms are very nicely appointed and most have a direct view of the Rouen Cathedrale that cannot be beat. Breakfast offers a variety of fresh foods in a pretty little room with lovely stained glass windows. If we are ever in Rouen we would ONLY stay here!

Great location, small, but typical for a European standard room size, towels were heavily worn. No safe in the room.

Nice hotel, right next the cathedral and rue de l’Horloge

We paid extra for an upgraded room, but the room we had was extremely small, barely room to walk around the bed. The room was hot and as there was no airconditioning we had to keep the window open all night which meant it was very noisy due to the partying going on until about 3 am and the streetcleaners. The facilities were basic, not even a rubbish bin anywhere in the bedroom or bathroom. The cups in the bathroom were dirty with toothpaste residue from previous guests. The mirror had a chunk missing leaving a sharp edge right by the handle for the taps. The towels were dirty so we left them on the floor for housekeep to replace, as instructed. Housekeeping came and just hung up the towels so then we had damp and dirty towels for morning. There was no-one at reception most of the time and no way to contact them, you just let yourself in with a PIN code for the main entrance. Overall a disappointing and expensive stay with very little sleep.
