Arcadia Lodge Russell

Visited 30 years ago and loved it, now it is even better, hosts Greg and Peter were fantastic and made our stay memorable. Beautiful place, lovely rooms and exceptional breakfasts. Best place of our four week tour around NZ both South Island and North.

We had a brilliant stay at Arcadia Lodge. The property has been restored with great eye to detail and is immaculately presented. Greg and Peter are superb hosts and made us feel relaxed and welcome from the outset. Breakfasts were a highlight and we also enjoyed the communal kitchen and honesty bar which provided a homely atmosphere.

Most wonderful breakfast I have ever had complete with homegrown bananas, jams and fresh produce from their garden ! Beautiful views from everywhere , chic accomodation , great shower and large towels - warm hospitality . thank you

Set in a convenient hilltop location, overlooking the bay, a beautiful experience to be enjoyed. Nothing too much trouble for Greg and Peter. Excellent breakfast all prepared with fresh local ingredients. Relaxed, yet tasteful and spotlessly clean throughout.

We had a very nice, comfortable and well managed stay in the Lodge. The hosts Greg and Peter did a 100% job to make this a memorable stay for everyone. It is pure luxery in the lodge, very good bed, spatious, clean, on a good location within walking distance from the town centre. "Chef" Peter prepares a wonderfull breakfast every morning with healthy ingredients and full of taste.

My wife and I loved our stay at Arcadia House in Russell for our 3 nights in the Bay of Islands. Our suite had 2 bedrooms, a living room, and a small porch with a glorious view of the harbor. Peter and Greg were gracious hosts, who went out of their way to make us feel welcome, comfortable, and well taken care of. Breakfast was excellent, and we had interesting conversations with other international guests. Arcadia Lodge is a wonderful place to stay in a spectacularly beautiful part of the world.

Recommended!! Peter and Greg are the gracious hosts of the lovely Arcadia Lodge in Russel. They made us feel at home quickly. We had our own charming, comfortable 2 bedroom apartment (Matariki). We eagerly looked forward to each breakfast. It was extensive, had fruits and jams from their own garden, and was beautifully presented. The hot course was different each day and always delicious. The view was unbeatable! They were also very helpful in recommending restaurants and they booked us on a lovely sailing trip with Robin and Rick of Phantom Sailing in the Bay of Islands.

Arcadia Lodge is simply the finest B&B we've ever had the pleasure to stay in. The whole experience, from being greeted in the car park by Greg on our arrival. to our farewells two days later, was flawless in every way. Our room comprising two bedrooms and a delightful verandah with sensational views was immaculate. The property in general is magnificently decorated with an attention to detail rarely found. The boys that run the show, Greg and Peter are both helpful and accommodating without being intrusive in any way, and provide guests with both a brief history of the property from the whaling days where the region was known as 'The Hell Hole', and on request provide plenty of useful information on both Russel and the Bay Of Islands. Early morning is a real treat sitting on the deck overlooking the bay with Peter's abundant culinary skills providing various tasty dishes daily. All this enhanced by relaxed and easy going Greg's service. Simply stated, Arcadia Lodge is simply the best.
