Clean, thorough, nice staff. Didn't spend much time at the hotel, just came to stay overnight with a packed itinerary. Nice amenities, (free biscuits, soaps, etc) didn't try the shower. Good for a brief stay.

We were looking for a place to have Sunday lunch as a family. I (mum) have developed complex food allergies and struggle to find places to eat out. I noticed the menu on the surface would cater to my basic need (plant based option) and spoke with the manager about whether the meal would impact on other allergies (sulphites, spinach, tomato etc) and after he made inquires the chef said he would make a special gravy. So I was sold. The meal was delicious. I haven't had a roast out for about three years and this made my day. I had the nut roast which was like a party on my tongue. My husband and daughter were both very satisfied with their roast pork and chicken respectively. From the outside Yelf's looks dated but I'd definitely give the food and service five stars.

A lovely hotel with incredibly friendly staff. We stayed here for 2 nights on our first trip to the Isle of Wight and couldn’t be happier with our choice. We had a lovely, big room with a sea view which we were very happy with. Staff even let us leave our ridiculous amount of bags on our last day while we explored before our ferry. Would highly recommend if you’re staying in Ryde!

Dated hotel but exceptionally clean! Quite a few rooms available, the bed was a double as opposed to a King bed which is not ideal. Good price for a cheap stay in Ryde close to the beach and all pubs restaurant. The Yelf owners run the 2 cocktails bars close by

Not stayed at the hotel yet but hoping to next year, now we've learnt that the hotel has two nearby private car parks. (We bring our cars down for the Classic Car Show). Enjoyed the comfortable and relaxed bar a few times. Service is always very good.

I came to the Isle of Wight on holiday with a friend, and we stayed at Yelfs, The Staff were very friendly, and the Breakfast Service was great, The Beds were very Comfy, and you had a great view of the Sea from your window, it is located in a very good part of Ryde. However, There was a Damp Stain above our beds, The TV was Broken with wires exposed which is a hazard! Another issue was that on our first day when we had been out and Housekeeping had been in to make the beds, they left our door on the latch, meaning our room was accessible to absolutely anyone. But apart from all that, overall I enjoyed my Stay at Yelfs!

We recently stayed at Yelfs for a 4-night break to visit family. Our group consisted of three adults and two children, and we were accommodated in an apartment and a double room located across the road from the main hotel. We had chosen the apartment for its advertised kitchenette, hoping for additional space. Positives: Great Location: The hotel is conveniently situated for local beach and amenities Car Park: Ample parking available. Staff: The cleaners were very hardworking and friendly. Negatives: Room Condition: Both rooms were extremely run down, with stains on the walls and a generally neglected appearance. The bathroom was particularly disappointing—clinical like a hospital but very rundown. The bathroom's location off the bedroom was inconvenient. Amenities: We had to request glasses, and the mugs provided were mismatched, suggesting they are regularly broken and not properly replaced. The pillows were thin and lifeless. It appears that no updates or maintenance have been carried out since my last stay 15 years ago. Breakfast Experience: This was the most significant letdown. The first two breakfasts at the main hotel were acceptable, though lacking yogurts, fruit, and pastries. The service was good, however. The breakfasts on the subsequent two mornings at the pub next door were disastrous. The staff seemed uninterested in catering to us, leading to poor service. We had to order at the bar and repeatedly remind staff about our coffee orders. Glasses for juice and plates for toast were not readily provided, and we received indifferent responses to our requests. Although the scrambled eggs were good on most days, on the fourth day, they were raw, with clear globdules, and inedible, smeared on basic unbuttered toast, when previously they had been cooked through with parsley and piled on a lovely sourdough. Additionally, despite informing the staff of our need to leave by 10 am for a ferry, we waited 45 minutes for the hot breakfast. I would suggest that if the main hotel cannot accommodate breakfast that it is just not provided as we would rather have gone elsewhere on the last two days. Overall, despite the issues, the hotel was acceptable and offered reasonable value for money. The location, parking facilities, and availability of rooms for more than two people are significant advantages. We might consider staying here again for these reasons.

The hotel is perfectly situated on Ryde's Main Street, close to shopping, restaurants and the ferry. Pros: Location, size of room, quiet, comfortable mattress, tea & coffee supplies, staff were friendly and hard working. reasonable price for hotel stay and restaurant/bar Cons: Rooms need TLC, including everyday maintenance. (Out of 7 ceiling pot lights, one worked; carpet dirty, curtain pulls missing, mold in bathroom area) Staffing: housekeeping - staff shortages (room serviced after 4pm on one day); short kitchen staff (all meals came from the pub/restaurant next store)

This hotel is in a desperate state. Rooms are in need of a complete refurb . The carpets are threadbare, bathrooms dirty and damp , lounge looks like something out of the sixties. Breakfast was awful with eggs floating in oil , bacon half cooked and one poor waitress trying hard to cover the whole dining room. I had no sleep due to the noise off the Main Street and single glazed windows in rotting frame. Also had a window cleaner banging on the windows at seven in the morning. In summary an absolute tip .. don’t waste your money.

This was my first choice of hotel for my visit for Ryde. I spoke to a woman on the phone, and she told me that the wheel chair is accessible for a wheelchaired individual such as myself, she lied! I arrived at the building a few days later to find some giant steps I was expected to bunny hop up to get to the reception, there is no lift, family members commented on the narrow hallways.

Very relaxing atmosphere with a great bar where you can enjoy a peaceful drink. Perfect for a little getaway. Super nice staff. Breakfast yummy and served red hot to order. Nothing was too much trouble. We have stayed at Ryde Castle and Appley Manor on the IOW in the past but we will staff at Yelf’s next time.
Response from Property: Thankyou very much for your response! We look forward to seeing you again soon.
