Bella Bay Inn

It has an excellent location right downtown, however parking is inconvenient and far away. Description says it has bay views but I looked out the window and we could see just a tiny corner of water so not really a great view. The bed was very comfortable, and the bathroom, towels, and kitchenette were nice. However, the room was very humid to the point where things felt wet and even the air conditioning didn't seem to dry the room out. Also, the walls seemed very thin and we could hear conversations nearby.

Can’t beat it. The inn is perfectly located in the historic district, just across the street from the city marina on the Bayfront and walking distance to all the shops, restaurants, and cafes. Every morning I walked to a coffee shop nearby and got a fancy coffee and walked along the Bayfront, but there is also coffee provided in the room. The bed was extremely comfortable and the room was super clean. The housekeeper was friendly and very detailed. The parking lot was a short and very cute walk. I walked all over the city during my stay which was great. There is a pub downstairs but it was very quiet, you would never know, at least during my stay. Will stay again!!

We stayed two nights at Bella Bay 5/19 and 5/20 and the only time it was quiet was between 12:30am and 6am Loud music constantly, two wedding receptions in the building right next door, and the thumping of the music from the pub directly below our floor, people standing outside the window yelling and talking like they were in the room. The loudest construction I have ever heard all morning. It was awful. We almost left in the middle of the night the first night and went back home to Orlando. If had not had a prior engagement the next day we would have. The parking situation was terrible.. the lot was half a mile from the hotel and it was in an empty parking lot of an abandoned building… I was the only car in there when I parked. I moved my car the following morning and ended up using a paid spot in front of the hotel the rest of the trip. I was not comfortable leaving my car in that sketchy lot. The room had a very musty smell to it but other than that it was very clean and the bed was very comfortable, wish I could have actually had a peaceful nights sleep in it. Sadly we will not be staying at this hotel again.. nearly 300 dollars a night is easily twice as much as this room is worth during the most peak of times. Disclaimers about the noise and parking should be made before purchasing.

I wish we had read all the reviews before staying here. Parking as they say is off site. Did not expect it to be over a quarter of a mile away. Manager very rude when I told her I felt the off site parking they advertise is misleading. One would assume not that far away. And, if its raining and lightning forget about getting your car. Room run down and windows would not close all the way. Had a filthy couch on our balcony that was better suited for a cabin in the Appalachian mountains. I specifically inquired about noise level since it sits not only over a bar but across from an outdoor restaurant. They told me the noise was never an issue. WRONG. Live band across the street. Forget about quiet or sleeping. There web site description is FAR overrated. Would not recommend staying here.

I would never stay there again! We are in St Augustine a few times a year and we try to stay at a different bed and breakfast or inn each time. This is hands down the worst place we’ve stayed. Note that if you stay in the same room as us, only one side of the bed had an outlet. I couldn’t have my phone plugged in near me because the hubby needed the outlet on the other side for his CPAP machine. So bring an extension cord if you need something plugged in on the other side. Pros: Close to downtown and the parking is closer than some bed and breakfast we’ve stayed at. Cons: No sleep!! You hear every sound outside. Our first night we didn’t get to sleep until 2am because the bar below the inn was so loud and you could hear all the drunk conversations on the street below the windows. It was awful. Hair everywhere. Not sure they own a vacuum. Floors are filthy and caked with hair. The bathroom also had hair everywhere. To top it off, when we pulled back the sheets I instantly saw a long dark black hair and 4 small black hairs. I was grossed out. The room doesn’t have a kitchen like the pictures. It was a mini fridge and sink. View was of a building. Nothing like the pictures. Compared to every single other Bed and Breakfast we’ve stayed at, it doesn’t compare. No courtyard for relaxing, No staff on site ever, No balcony, No microwave. Also, there was no personal key. It was a keypad with a provided code. Not sure how often that code is changed, so we didn’t feel like our stuff was secure.

Very clean hotel with great location. Right in the middle of historic section. Walking distance to everything. Spent two nites here walking around town. Would give it 5 stars but it has 2 flights of stairs which was hard with our bad knees. Has parking a couple of short blocks away, however we were able to unload luggage at room. Didn’t need car while we were there so off site parking wasn’t a big deal
