Loved our stay. Staff couldn’t have been friendlier- nothing was a bother. Beautiful room with balcony. Peaceful. Great food. Loved the free shuttle bus to the town centre - very handy. Wish we’d been staying longer.

Brilliant service from arrival to leaving. All staff friendly and helpful! Beautiful hotel, with great views and the perfect location if you’re up for a solid coastal walk into Salcombe!

Loved the 30s vibe set in ultra modern, beautifully finished furnishings. Our room was valley facing, tawny owls, crazy robins, and incredibly green view facing a great bank of forest..very relaxing. Loved the welcome G+T..room was spotless, house keeping was right on it. Breakfast was really enjoyable, lots of choice. The croissants better than the ones we had in Normandy as kids..tres bon. Staff worked hard to accommodate our dietary needs,it eased any tension we had..thank you. Gym,sauna, steam room, pool?best we've experienced?..that's an easy yes. After 5 days of walks to Salcombe,Soar and marlboro, the old airfield, and a 18th century admiralty lookout post..I still think there is a lot to discover. The ferry to Salcombe was amazing..a must do.. From 2 Seasoned travellers, semi retired, and nicely fussy..this hotel was above and beyond..we would definitely return. Just be aware of some issues, the banana bread is addictive, andthe tawny owl is a hoot. Top marks to everyone for making our stay so memorable.. What does Arnie say....??

This is a very nice hotel in a beautiful, secluded beach-side location about 1 mile away from Salcombe centre. Beware that it can be a bit of a challenging drive down to South Sands navigating down single track lanes but once you've managed that I'd recommend leaving your car and enjoying your time at the hotel and in the surrounding area. We stayed in a standard beach view room (rm 102). I'd say the room was a bit cramped with its giant bed but this was made up for by a good sized balcony with that view across the sands. Some nice touches included free yoga classes in the mornings - we even managed beach yoga on one of our days, free local gin in your room for each night of your stay (!) and a free shuttle to Salcombe if you don't fancy the walk. The hotel has a small, well equipped gym and studio (where the yoga takes place when it's too cold/ wet on the beach) and a nice pool/ spa which I didn't find too busy during our stay. Be warned that Salcombe is expensive - crazily so (£19.50 for a margherita pizza in town!) and the area isn't ideal for anyone with difficulty walking. I'm not sure I'd bother visiting Salcombe centre but I'd highly recommend visiting the National Trust Overbeck's gardens about a 1 mile walk up hill from the hotel.

This restaurant has everything it needs to be highly rated; beautiful setting, lovely outdoor space, spacious dining area - but unfortunately it does not live up to expectations. For whatever reason, the restaurant lacks atmosphere - it doesn't have any kind of vibe or feel to it. The food is quite good, though it should be better given the high prices. But the biggest issue by far is the slowness of the service. We have been here a few times and it's always the same. You can hang around waiting for somebody to show you to your table, almost as if the staff are ignoring you. And then it takes ages to place an order. Last time we visited we ended up going to find somebody as nobody appeared for about 20 minutes. It's very strange as the restaurant is not so busy people aren't available to serve. The staff are very nice -- but as a collective the lack of efficient service makes for a frustrating experience.

Once you negotiate the scary one way road to access the hotel the setting and service are outstanding. The staff were unfailingly kind, courteous and friendly and we had a beautiful room overlooking the bay. Such a shame that they chose to cheapen the whole experience by charging for any kind of cooked breakfast. A very mediocre continental breakfast was included which consisted of the same thing every day and an extremely poor selection of fruit. A significant error of judgement from management

I would like to give an honest review of our experience at the hotel. Myself and my wife booked this trip to have a wonderful relaxed experience and did not find it so . Our room was not cleaned for 2 days and when mentioned at reception did not get a response until end of afternoon on day 2. The restaurant food was disappointing and not of a good standard and although staff were friendly the staff needed direction and focus on customer service is needed. We had a superior queen room on ground floor which had no view and was overlooked by a smoking area. We paid 1200 pounds for 3 nights which was no where near worth that amount . We were totally disappointed with our experience and feel we had to give this honest review . I look forward to hearing from you as we felt the whole experience let us down.

My partner and I stayed for a night as a treat and we really enjoyed our stay. I had wanted to visit for a while so had high hopes for it. The hotel itself was lovely. Well decorated and clean. Welcoming and well attentive staff. We had dinner at the restaurant on site. Both our steaks were delicious. My partner booked me in for a massage which was very relaxing. We got very lucky with the weather so the views were great from our room, the restaurant and sat out on the front. We were able to hire a kayak and admire the little bays you cant see from land. The only thing that I would complain about was our lunch the next day. We both had a burger and it was just tough gristley meat. Wouldn't recommend that but other than that we had a great time.
