Hotels Near Ilê Axé Opô Odé Ibô in Salvador

The Novotel Salvador Hangar Aeroporto best features are its location near the airport, newer facilities than most properties in Salvador, and it operates under the ACCOR hotel brand. Despite these advantages, I must report a unacceptable experience during my stay December 28th to 31st 2022 followed by deplorable managerial customer service in response to verified and documented service failures. I have reported these issues to my travel agency, my corporate travel unit, and my personal travel networks. As I discovered this property using Trip Advisor, I have decided to report this matter for the benefit of my fellow readers. I do not recommend this property for business travelers nor cultural tourism travelers (especially not those seeking afro-Brazilian tourism or those welcoming to the African diaspora). I share some reasons herein: • Unreliable Service: During my stay I experienced one major internet outage over six business hours, as well as minor room outages (less than 30 minutes) on each day of my stay. This hotel was advertised as catering to business travelers, but the hotel provided no updates when internet would be restored despite repeated requests. I did not receive any support to manage the disruption to my teleworking, and personnel were unable/unwilling to facilitate solutions (At one point, I was recommended to use the free internet of one of the shopping malls. Imagine carrying expensive computer equipment to what my taxi driver warned was a “high crime” area). Sadly, the ability of the reception staff to identify solutions was more unreliable than the internet service. • Poor Room Quality: This hotel advertises rooms of high standards of quality, and I am sure many receive good rooms. However, I received a room that was both substandard quality (bathroom sidings and interior furniture water damaged, door malfunction, refrigerator malfunction) and pollutted by the buildings HVAC exhaust being poorly designed, allowing exhaust to flow against rooms on the lower floor (high noise pollution noticeable when sleeping). I believe most guests do not have this experience, as the issue likely affects few rooms on the lower floors. However, when choosing this property, one must ask the question, how does the receptionist decide who receives these rooms which experience high dust inflow and high noise pollution (I have videos and photos available upon request). Why are some customers placed in quality rooms, and others assigned to substandard rooms (noting the hotel has standard room types based on bed requirements)? Why did this hotel property assume that one of their few afro-descendent customers would accept the worst room in the property? • Deplorable Managerial Level Customer Service: Upon checkout, a customer service representative noted my dissatisfaction with my hotel experience, and asked if I would be willing to receive inquires from hotel management the next business day. Come on, I'll give my fair and honest assessment... From the initial service of Catussaba resort I don't remember the name of the official, she, very friendly and gentle, served us super well... we arrived a little before the scheduled time and have already made us available from a room... as we were in 4 (one couple and two children) we expected the room to be ready to receive us... the bed sofa was unrecognized, we asked and soon more resolved... when I went to sleep in my bed I realized I had a screen of blood apparently and I went to watch well until Hair had... we called for the reception and asked him to exchange the bed copper for gentleness... when we returned to the room, I saw that the sleeve was no longer... apparently had changed, however, When I pulled the cover to sleep... I felt wrong because they had the job to turn the dirt copper bed... Oh, we asked three times to change the control of one of the TV or to change the batteries... we left there without anyone having solved a so simple problem... Another issue that is worth noting is that the hotel has to check urgently... on the air exhaustor of room 217... was not working! My children on the second day no longer took advantage of the hotel because they were sick and the air quality worsened the situation even more. Things that should not pass unnoticed!!!! The hotel has a varied breakfast, everything very tasty, the hot pool, the staff working in this area needs more training because one is playing the client to another... perhaps the workforce is heavy because there are few professionals for demand ( holiday). The park the children loved, the beach is beautiful! The hotel structure is very good! The night is a super pleasant climate!

All perfect. Note 9.5. If you want to be note 10 you need to have a better blackout in the rooms because the balcony is super clear when the sun is born. We had only one problem with the lock, because the card failed to open about three times and we had to return to the gateway.

The hotel is being repaired and nobody told us. The entrance is a different one and there is no one to help us showing the way. The reception is kind of disorganized and the people of the check in/ out not so friendly. The room and bathroom were not so good and had a bad smell. The food is Ok. The breakfast is good. The pool area was kind of dirty. Many people at the gym place at the same time and some of them not wearing masks. We expected more.

Quarto bom, espaçoso, silencioso, não tive problemas no sono. Banheiro um pouco apertado. Café da manhã podia ter mais opções de pães, mas estava tudo gostoso e suficiente. Atendimento foi ok. A localização é muito boa, a poucos metros de um grande shopping.

The hotel is wonderful, I have been using the services for a long time, it is one of my favorites in Salvador. The quality of the services is excellent, the restaurant is very good, the exceptional breakfast is also the same standard of excellence. The rooms are very good, spacious and comfortable, and the rooms are worth a little more.

I went to sleep quietly, I would stay only one night, I stayed in a top room, at the 21st floor. The next day to go down to breakfast I found that the 4 lifts were stopped due to a canoe break. ok that accidents happen and there was little to do, But I think it lacked a little crisis management by the staff who did not have a lot of tattoo to deal with the situation so strange. I had to go down and climb the 21 floors by the stairs. I had paid a part in points and a part in money for staying. and a lot of money. I am very pleased to have the money returned, but in any way I think there is a lack of better risk and crisis management in situations like this.

Well located hotel, close to Mc Donald's. Excellent service, with a very satisfactory breakfast. Spacious accommodation with Wi-Fi included.

A localização é maravilhosa! Ao lado do shopping da Bahia, a poucos metros do metrô, e do novo centro financeiro de Salvador. O café da manhã não é tão variado, mas é bom. As instalações dos quartos são boas e a internet é excelente, pra quem leva trabalho pro quarto. Ótima opção de estadia.

I loved the hosting, the staff working at the hotel are super sympathetic and receptives and willing to solve anything. I'll be hosting again there. It was a great experience.
