This was my fourth time staying here, but the first after an extensive remodel. My room was supposed to be a single, but I think I was upgraded to a small double room. It was quite nice, with everything of the highest quality. The view out of the window was pretty bad, but it was quiet. The breakfast was good, but the older version of the hotel used to have the greatest breakfast ever! But I can understand the need to trim down the size of the breakfast offerings a little. This has always been a great location, but my impression is that the street (Linzergasse) has gotten even more popular in the evenings over the years. So the hotel has set out some nice outdoor seating and it's a great place to drink a beer and people-watch. The staff has always been friendly and efficient, and that continues to be the case. I still love this hotel and will continue to stay here when visiting beautiful Salzburg!

We throughly enjoyed our two night stay here in Salzburg. The hotel is located less than 5 minutes walk to the old town. Plenty of shops and restaurants nearby also. Our room was nicely decorated with very nice amenities. The bed and pillows were also comfortable. The breakfast buffet was delicious, with a choice of freshly cooked eggs if you so choose. The staff, particularly the front desk personnel, were both friendly and professional. We highly recommend this hotel if you are planning a stay in Salzburg.

Ignore the critics, this hotel is perfect for a city break. Conveniently located within walking distance of all the main sights. Rooms warm and spotlessly clean, staff very helpful and friendly. The breakfast food is all fresh and well prepared. We didn’t have dinner at the hotel, so cannot comment. Would definitely return and recommend.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Hotel Stadtkrug. The location is excellent and very close to all sites of interest. The breakfast was excellent and the service equally excellent. It was quiet and very comfortable. The staff were very responsive to any situation that may come up. Overall, I would recommend it highly.

Dined here with my daughter on our first night in town at the end of December. They didn’t have tables available at the time but suggested we can wait at the bar (across the hallway) for maybe 15 minutes but only had to wait maybe 5 minutes. Easily transferred drink bill to dining room. Nice menu and very nice service from everyone we encountered. I had a nice soup along with a steak. Daughter enjoyed her steak as well but…medium rare in Europe is probably a little too rare for her. Something to consider everywhere in Europe as beef often cooked slightly less than in USA. Enjoyed a white Austrian wine before dinner and a red at dinner. Fun time and would return.

Great historic location, in a pedestrian street full of restaurants and shops. Easy to get to/from the main train station with buses every 3-5 min just around the corner. Short 10 min walk to historic Salzburg downtown, and just steps away from the main road/staircase leading to Kapuzinerberg, a great hiking area with magnificent views of the city and the Hohensalzburg. In the property, tasty breakfast and friendly staff. Highly recommended!
